Education Level2 Year Degree## Description**POSITION GOAL:**The Survey Crew Member ll will be responsible for performing advanced technical and professional field survey work for the Wisconsin offices. This position will serve as party chief for field surveys; review surveys to determine the validity of the evidence and methods used and to ensure accurate survey information; maintain equipment and inventories. **ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**•

Levels runs as directed by the Survey Crew Party Chief



Sets control points and benchmarks



Determines elevations and laying out stakes.



Operates all survey equipment, including Total Station and GPS Data Collector.



Sets up the instrument for data collection or level runs



Marks points of measurement with elevation, station number, ID numbers, or other marks.



Assists Survey Party Crew Chief as requested.



Cuts and clears brush from survey lines; loads and unloads equipment.



Plans and conducts topographical surveys, takes cross section



Supervises additional staff members assisting in survey assignments



Perform other duties as assigned. **COMPETENCIES:**•

Able to understand the perspective of others before making decisions and taking action.## Qualifications**POSITION REQUIREMENTS:****Education:** Associate’s degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field from an accredited college or university. Bachelor’s degree preferred.**Licensure:** N/A**Job Classification:** Non**-**Exempt (Hourly)**Report to:** Senior Project Engineer or Department Head**Experience:** Typically 5+ years**Report to:** Senior Project Engineer or Department Head**Communication Skills:** Excellent verbal and written communication skills.**Technical Skills:** Knowledge of local government agency standards, specifically WisDOT. Detail oriented. Knowledge of Boundary Survey, ALTA and Construction Survey. Proficiency with operation of total robotic stations, data collectors and GPS systems.**Supervisory Responsibilities:** Oversee lower level trainees and crew members**Physical Demands:** Must be able to sit, walk, stand, reach with hands and arms, stoop or kneel, climb or balance, talk or hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools, or control. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds on occasion **Working Environment:** Work outside extensively and can be exposed to all types of weather

Required driving to job sites in Illinois and Wisconsin may result in a long commute, must possess a valid license. **Continuing Education:** Complete state-required competency.
