Overview
Portland West is a public course located right outside of the greater Hartford area, in Portland, Connecticut. The golf course is an executive 18-hole, par 60 course. With multiple tee boxes on every hole, the course can offer a tough, but fair experience for golfers of all skill levels. The spacious clubhouse is a great space for hosting multiple events and social gatherings. Primary Responsibilities
Daily maintenance and long-term care of greens, tees, fairways, rough, and practice areas Hiring, training, and scheduling of grounds and seasonal staff Adequate knowledge of irrigation systems and system upkeep Mowing, fertilization, aeration, and pest-control programs Monitoring turf health and responding to weather or environmental conditions Oversight of maintenance equipment, tools, and facilities Budget preparation and coordination with ownership Course setup for tournaments, leagues, and special events Compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards Regular communication with owners and PGA Basic Mechanic Knowledge for small engine repairs Maintain basic landscaping around the clubhouse and parking lot Experience with operating heavy equipment; backhoe loader, etc.
