
Giant Oak Golf Club is seeking a motivated Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our agronomy team. If you’re a hands‑on turf pro who takes pride in details—clean mowing, smart moisture management, and doing the fundamentals every day we want to meet you. Giant Oak is a 27‑hole golf facility located in Temperance, Michigan (SE Michigan / Toledo, Ohio area). We have been a family‑owned and operated business since 1969.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with daily golf course setup, scheduling, mowing, and maintenance duties; train/coach staff in golf course maintenance practices
Participate in agronomic programs for greens, tees, fairways, and rough
Assist with fertilizer, plant protectant, and cultural practice applications
Monitor turf conditions and communicate observations/recommendations
Assist with irrigation system operation, troubleshooting, and repair
Train and mentor seasonal and full‑time employees
Assist with project planning, execution, and documentation
Support tournament preparation and special events
Promote and enforce safety and environmental practices
Keep equipment standards high (cleanliness, safety checks, reporting issues early)
Maintain strong communication with the superintendent/owner and maintenance crew
This is a 12‑month position. During winter months the assistant helps with equipment maintenance, outside projects (e.g. tree removal), and maintenance projects in the clubhouse
