As an Inside Sales Representative, you'll be a key point of contact for customers and outside sales partners. This role blends customer service, sales support, technical accuracy, and relationship-building in a dynamic building-materials environment. You'll assist customers in the showroom and over the phone, prepare quotes and material take-offs, coordinate special orders, and ensure projects move forward smoothly from start to finish. Key Responsibilities
Assist customers by phone and in the showroom with product selection, pricing, quotations, order placement, complaints, and delivery coordination Proactively contact customers to generate sales opportunities and support individual sales goals Prepare accurate material take-offs for residential projects, including single- and multi-family homes Analyze and size lumber and building products using appropriate software tools Coordinate special-order products, including pricing, availability, and delivery timelines Accurately enter orders, pricing, and customer information into company systems Create invoices, work orders, and sales tickets with a high level of accuracy Represent assigned outside sales representatives when they are out of the office Support builder and contractor accounts in coordination with outside sales Assist with returns, credits, and payment research as needed Perform additional duties as assigned by location management Showroom & Customer Support
Provide consistent, professional service to walk-in and scheduled showroom customers Maintain a clean, organized, and professional showroom environment Guide product selections using established processes to ensure accuracy Maintain a personal follow-up system for quotes and active orders Assist with physical inventory counts and showroom upkeep Maintain current product knowledge through training and meetings Participate in trade events and associations as needed What We're Looking For
High school diploma required; college coursework or degree preferred Prior experience in building materials or construction required Strong customer service and communication skills (verbal and written) Ability to multi-task, stay organized, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, and data entry systems Ability to read and understand basic construction documents and blueprints (preferred) Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally Who We Are American Cedar & Millwork is a trusted supplier of premium building materials across the Mid-Atlantic.
