Job Description - Claims Processor/Customer Service Rep.
Process all Claims in accordance with departmental timeframes. Also, in accordance with State laws and regulatory guidelines. Provide service to customers via telephone and written communication.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Claims processing, cancellations, disbursements, filing, and surrenders.
Customer service: policy changes, policy loans, address changes, funeral home transfers.
Problem solving.
Other duties as assigned.
No supervisory responsibilities.
Education And/Or Experience Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four‑year college or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous customer service experience required.
Language Skills The employee must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals, and write routine reports and correspondence.
Math Skills Compute figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Apply basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Analytical Skills Visualize, articulate, and solve both complex and uncomplicated problems and concepts, make decisions that are sensible based on available information, and apply logical thinking to gathering and analyzing information.
Computer Skills Skilled in use of personal computers, Excel spreadsheets, email, Word documents, and a 10‑key adding machine.

Strong organizational skills.
Effective written and verbal communication.
Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.
Self‑motivation and initiative to resolve issues independently.
Customer service experience.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment The noise level is usually moderate.
