Our client a mid-size global investment banking firm is seeking a Director-level IT Business Manager. Based in New York City (hybrid), this role will operate as a senior partner to the CIO, responsible for driving alignment across technology and business leadership while strengthening execution discipline, transparency, and communication across the organization. This position blends strategic planning, operational leadership, and executive engagement. The successful candidate will help translate CIO priorities into action, elevate how information flows to senior stakeholders, and ensure key initiatives move forward with clarity and accountability. Core Responsibilities
CIO Partnership & Strategic Enablement
Serve as a primary thought partner to the CIO for Capital Markets, helping shape priorities, structure agendas, and frame executive-level discussions. Provide concise briefings ahead of leadership engagements, highlighting key developments, risks, decisions, and opportunities. Ensure leadership time and focus are aligned to the most critical business and technology outcomes. Organizational Operations & Execution
Establish and manage the operating cadence for the Capital Markets technology organization, including leadership forums, governance routines, and follow-through mechanisms. Drive clarity on objectives for major meetings and initiatives; track commitments and ensure progress against deliverables. Partner with technology and business leaders to maintain alignment on scope, sequencing, and dependencies across strategic programs. Executive Communications
Own creation of executive-ready materials for internal and external forums, translating complex initiatives into clear, impactful narratives. Develop consistent reporting frameworks that surface performance, risks, and milestones in a concise and actionable format. Raise the overall quality of communications across the CIO organization. Stakeholder Engagement
Act as a bridge between the CIO’s office and senior leaders across Capital Markets, Technology, and corporate functions. Build trusted relationships that enable effective collaboration and timely decision-making. Anticipate stakeholder needs and proactively address gaps in communication or alignment. Leverage data and KPIs to inform leadership decisions and highlight areas requiring intervention. Identify opportunities to improve operational effectiveness, simplify processes, and enhance organizational maturity. Contribute to shaping best practices for IT business management within Capital Markets. Required Experience & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred. 8+ years of experience in IT business manager, strategy, executive advisory, or operational leadership roles, ideally within financial services or large enterprise environments. Demonstrated ability to operate at the Director level with senior executives, combining strategic perspective with hands-on execution. Strong executive communication and presentation development capabilities. Proven success managing complex priorities in fast-moving, matrixed organizations. High degree of professionalism, judgment, and stakeholder presence. Familiarity with Capital Markets and Sales & Trading environments is a plus.
