
Overview
Field Service Representative at Schneider Electric. Schneider’s Field Service Representatives collaborate with customers, team members and third-party partners to perform assembly, startup, diagnostic, repair and preventive maintenance on equipment in dynamic environments. They are problem solvers, customer focused and passionate about the work they do.
This site-based role includes direct product training and training on all digital and physical tools. Schneider Electric provides service vehicles, tools, uniforms, mobile devices, and laptops for daily professional use. The position is site-based with occasional nonstandard hours and a 40-hour guarantee (+OT), with most work occurring at customer sites. It is within our U.S. Services business, focusing on servicing equipment supporting power distribution and critical power infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Pre-site, startup, repair, preventive maintenance, and field modification of equipment
Problem solving with customers, electricians, sales partners, technical support, and District Service teams
Completion of field service reports, expense reports, preventive maintenance, and startup data sheets
Collaborate with your Manager and/or Regional Service Director to resolve complex escalated issues
Continuous learning and training on various products both in the field and in the classroom
On some days, you may
Travel regionally for local customer support or countrywide travel (overnight travel by vehicle or air)
Assist senior technicians and support Project Management on larger system start-ups
Work alongside larger teams of Field Service Representatives and collaborate with Project Managers on higher complexity projects
Act on behalf of the District Service Manager to resolve operational issues as required
Qualifications
Associate’s degree, trade/vocational certification, Military training or similar electrical-related experience
Ability to read blueprints/schematics
Thorough understanding of AC and DC power, and related components
2+ years of field service repair and customer service with UPS systems, power distribution and switchgear, ATS, PDU, electrical or electro-mechanical equipment
2+ years in Field Services or equivalent industry experience
Commitment to safety and adherence to safety procedures; understanding of lockout/tagout and safety trainings
Identify hazards and report safety matters, incidents, near misses
NFPA-70E or OSHA experience is preferred
Safe driving and vehicle operation skills
Skilled at utilizing test and diagnostic equipment
Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and operation manuals
Ability to write service reports and respond to customer questions
Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks (up to 40 pounds) and work in various environmental conditions
