Responsibilities

Capture and edit videos and photos at events, press conferences, community outreach, and office activities to support communications efforts;

Write and draft press releases and short statements under guidance;

Create engaging social media content (posts, captions, graphics ideas) for platforms like X/Twitter and Facebook to share office updates and initiatives;

Assist in monitoring local and state news, current events, and social media mentions related to the Attorney General and office priorities;

Help prepare monthly newsletters and other basic communications materials;

Support coordination of media-related activities, such as assisting with press events or distributing materials;

Build and maintain positive working relationships with the Attorney General, team members, media contacts, and the public;

Works well under pressure and handles stress;

Accepts performance-based criticism and direction; and

Performs other communications duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations or a closely related field preferred, but not required, including strong academic credentials;

1-3 years of related experience;

Comfortable shooting/editing video and taking photos;

Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills;

Strong communication skills;

Understanding of print, broadcast, and online media;

Interest in social media content creation and basic editing tools;

Knowledge of current issues and events in which the Attorney General is involved;

Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer skills; and

Ability to meet deadlines, accept feedback, and work in a team setting.
