Overview
HOJ is seeking a
Product & Sampling Specialist
to lead food execution and sampling quality at Expo West. This role is responsible for preparing, handling, and serving product samples while ensuring consistency, food safety, and a positive tasting experience for all attendees.
You will be the guardian of product quality at the booth, making sure every sample reflects the care and standards behind the brand.
Responsibilities Food Preparation & Execution
Manage freezer, steamer, microwave, and warming equipment
Prepare samples according to brand guidelines and timing
Ensure samples are hot, fresh, and consistently portioned
Monitor sample pacing to match booth traffic
Product Knowledge
Clearly explain differences between products (siu mai, BBQ pork bao, wontons, potstickers)
Answer basic product questions from attendees
Support booth lead with product-related details when needed
Food Safety & Cleanliness
Follow food safety best practices at all times
Handle glove changes, hand hygiene, and utensil sanitation
Maintain a clean, organized sampling station
Comply with Expo West food sampling regulations
Operational Support
Track sample inventory and alert booth lead when restocking is needed
Assist with setup and breakdown of sampling area
Coordinate closely with booth lead and brand ambassadors
Qualifications
Prior experience in food sampling, catering, food service, or CPG demos
Comfortable operating steamer, microwave, and freezer equipment
Knowledge of basic food safety practices
Organized, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure
Able to stand for long periods and assist with light lifting
Expo, trade show, or food event experience preferred
Compensation
Hourly:
$25–$30 per hour, depending on experience
