Job Overview We’re seeking a creative and organized

Marketing Assistant

to support social media, digital content, flyers, and production of the quarterly program brochure process. This is a flexible, hybrid role (approx. 15-20 hours/week) reporting to the Communications & Marketing Supervisor. The Marketing Assistant provides vital support to the Communications and Marketing Supervisor, in promoting the town’s Parks and Recreation Department programs, services and events. This part-time flexible position plays a key role in the creation of digital and print content, social media coordination and the development of the department’s quarterly brochure and other outreach materials.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assists in the development, coordination and execution of department marketing strategies.

Assists in the development of content for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube).

Assists with the design, proofreading and distribution of marketing collateral, including flyers, posters and signage for classes, programs and special events.

Supports the production of the department’s quarterly Programs & Events Brochure by coordinating intake and organization of programs to be included, and assisting in design and proofreading.

Participates in brainstorming sessions and contributes creative content ideas for campaigns and promotions.

Supports video and photography efforts, including onsite event coverage, as needed.

Coordinates with the Communications and Marketing Supervisor to ensure brand consistency and meet project deadlines.

Maintains organized records of marketing materials and content files via OneDrive or SharePoint.

Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED required.

Minimum one year experience or training that includes marketing, communications, public relations or another related field.

Willingness to occasionally work onsite at events, meetings and content shoots, as required.

Valid driver’s license with acceptable record.

Hours Variable Hours.

Work Location 814 Ferndale Ave, Herndon, VA 20170 (Herndon Community Center). Due to the nature of a government providing services to the public, all duties of this position are required to be fulfilled at the designated worksite in the town. No remote work is available.
