
Digital Content Specialist
Beacon is looking for a Digital Content Specialist to join our collaborative Content Development team. In this role, you’ll be part of the planning, writing, and optimization of strategic web content for colleges, universities, and multi‑family housing organizations.
This role is ideal for a writer with 1-3+ years of digital content experience who is ready to take ownership of projects, contribute ideas, and grow into content strategy within a supportive, team‑first environment. Working alongside designers, developers, marketers, and clients, you will create clear, thoughtful, and SEO‑driven content that helps people find what they need and take action. From kickoff to launch day, you will be part of the full process, researching, brainstorming, drafting, refining, and celebrating great work together.

Beacon is specifically seeking candidates located in the Triad (Greensboro, Winston‑Salem, High Point) or Wilmington, NC. Exceptional candidates outside these areas may be considered. However, relocation assistance is not available.
What you’ll do
Partner with strategists, designers, and developers to plan and create user‑centered web experiences
Conduct content audits, research audiences, and analyze competitors to uncover opportunities
Help shape messaging and content strategies that align with client goals
Write and edit clear, accessible, SEO‑optimized copy for websites, landing pages, and campaigns
Develop content that aligns with established brand voice, tone, and messaging guidelines
Facilitate client interviews and stakeholder sessions to gather insights and build alignment
Manage multiple content projects from kickoff through launch, balancing deadlines and priorities
Participate in collaborative reviews and working sessions, incorporating feedback from teammates and clients to continuously improve content
Contribute to Beacon’s own marketing efforts through blogs and social media
What you’ll bring
1–3+ years of professional experience writing or editing digital/web content (agency or in‑house)
Strong portfolio demonstrating web pages, landing pages, or content strategy work
Excellent grammar, editing, and storytelling skills
Solid understanding of SEO best practices and writing for search
Experience working within a CMS (WordPress, Cascade, Modern Campus, or similar)
Ability to write within brand guidelines and adapt tone and voice for different audiences
Comfort receiving, giving, and applying constructive feedback in a collaborative environment
Ability to translate complex information into clear, user‑friendly content
Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams and incorporating feedback
Strong organizational skills and comfort juggling multiple projects
Confidence communicating directly with clients and teammates
Nice to have
Experience working with higher education or multi‑family/residential clients
Familiarity with accessibility standards and UX writing principles
Analytics experience (Google Analytics or similar)
Social media or campaign copywriting experience
