Job Description As a Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for creating and revising detailed 3‑D models, assemblies, and 2‑D drawings for parts, sub‑assemblies, and system‑level electromechanical assemblies using SolidWorks. You will generate new revisions of existing drawings and create new designs based on engineering inputs, while ensuring compliance with applicable drafting standards. Your role will involve maintaining design standards, owning drawing release quality, creating and verifying Bills of Materials, and managing CAD data in SolidWorks PDM.
Responsibilities
Create and revise detailed 3‑D models, assemblies, and 2‑D drawings in SolidWorks.
Generate new designs from engineering inputs such as sketches and requirements.
Apply GD&T and ensure compliance with drafting standards.
Own drawing release quality, ensuring correct datums, tolerances, and materials.
Create and verify Bills of Materials for accuracy.
Manage CAD data and configurations in SolidWorks PDM.
Participate in design reviews and communicate effectively across functions.
Track design changes and support ECO/ECN workflows.
Essential Skills
Minimum 5–10+ years of experience in mechanical design.
Strong experience in designing electromechanical assemblies.
Proficient in SolidWorks for part/assembly modeling and drawings.
Strong command of GD&T and ability to implement it in drawings.
Proven ability to revise existing drawings while maintaining revision integrity.
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with engineers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in sheet metal, machine design, and capital equipment.
Familiarity with robotics and electromechanical systems.
Work Environment The position is mostly on‑site initially, with some hybrid flexibility available as you become more familiar with the role. The work environment is dynamic and involves collaboration with engineers in a development setting.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Lexington, MA.
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 – $60.00/hr.
