Role Description This is a full-time on-site role for an Interior Architectural Designer based in South Pasadena, CA. The role involves conceptualizing and developing architectural design projects, creating construction drawings, collaborating with team members, and ensuring designs meet client expectations. Additional responsibilities include contributing to drawing revisions and producing thoughtful, high-quality work from design to final installation.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and lead design direction for assigned projects: concept refinement, layout, material and finish selection, custom details, lighting, furnishings, and accessories
Prepare and manage detailed drawings and specifications (construction documents, FF&E schedules, lighting plans, furniture layouts)
Coordinate with architects, lighting designers, MEP engineers, vendors, and contractors to ensure design intent and quality of execution
Manage vendor and fabricator relationships: sourcing, budgeting, procurement, lead‑time tracking, and quality control
Present design proposals to clients, incorporate feedback, and refine direction
Mentor junior designers: review their work, provide guidance, delegate tasks, and foster their development
Assist Senior Designer with overall project scheduling, budget tracking, and ensuring deliverables meet timelines and studio standards
Conduct site visits, monitor installations, provide punch‑list oversight, and ensure final fit‑out meets design specifications
Qualifications
5-plus years of professional experience in interior design studios, with involvement in high-end residential/hospitality interiors
Strong, demonstrable design portfolio with residential and/or hospitality interiors examples
Proficiency in Architecture and Architectural Design processes
Strong skills in Construction Drawings and Drawing creation: excellent technical ability: strong drawing/CAD/Revit skills, furniture and lighting specification, detailing, and ability to translate creative ideas into buildable solutions.
Experience managing vendor/fabricator relationships and procurement workflowsConfident presentation, client communication and team coordination skills
Attention to detail with excellent organizational and communication skills, with attention to schedule and budget
A degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field is preferred
Strong aesthetic sensibility aligned with the studio's design ethos: layered textures, thoughtful materiality, bespoke detailing
Familiarity with design software and industry-standard tools (Studio Designer, SketchUp, Enscape, InDesign) preferred
