Head of Capital Transaction AnalysisTreasury and Capital Management Full-TimeBoston, MA, New York, NY or Springfield, MAThe OpportunityAs the Head of Capital Transaction Analysis, you will work in a fast paced, innovative and collaborative environment ideating, analyzing and executing strategic transactions benefitting the long-term financial strength and flexibility of MassMutual. This role will have the opportunity to work with the Head of Rating Agency Relations and Transaction Analysis on key finance initiatives:Apply understanding of life insurance/annuity products, risk management, and capital frameworks to drive strategic transaction analysis and recommendationsIdeate and execute capital markets and balance sheet optimization transactions that improve MassMutual’s financial performance, balancing capital adequacy, liquidity, financial flexibility, and earnings strengthAdvise the executive team on key strategic initiatives and sales priorities, including impacts to statutory and economic capital, rating agency metrics, and long-term profitabilityThe TeamThe Transaction Analysis Lead is a member of the Treasury organization which is a dynamic team of individuals with diverse backgrounds that are focused on:Maintaining a balance between high and sustainable returns for policyholders, and a strong financial strength position, while enabling MassMutual to take advantage of growth opportunities; all while maintaining within internal, regulatory and rating agency constraintsMinimizing time spent on production and data manipulation activities by transforming our modeling, analytic, and reporting capabilities and implementing automation and technology where possibleSpecifically, this role will lead the team charged with structuring and analyzing transactions and their impacts to MassMutual’s capital position. Focus will be on ideating and executing balance sheet management transactions, while consulting on M&A activity, reinsurance opportunities, and strategic investments. This role oversees a small team accountable for the detailed review and assessment of potential opportunities, often on highly confidential matters and regularly in partnership with MassMutual’s Corporate Development, Reinsurance Development, and Investment Management teams.The ImpactThis role will help drive strategic decisions around our use and consumption of scarce resources and solutions, as part of the Treasury organizations financial stewardship role, and deliver analysis to inform strategic decision-making:Identify and evaluate business and strategic opportunities, across financial, risk, and strategic views and with internal and external partiesLead transaction analysis considering rating agency, regulatory, and economic lenses, including M&A, capital markets, and reinsurance transactionsLead capital markets and balance sheet management transactions from ideation to executionManagement accountabilities:Accountable for all aspects of team leadershipFostering a high performance cultureRecruiting, rewarding and retaining a new teamDeveloping talent (e.g. cross-training, onboarding, providing feedback, etc.)

The Minimum QualificationsBS in accounting, finance, business, actuarial science or a related field10+ years of progressive experience in actuarial roles, including capital management, product pricing (retail and institutional insurance products), or enterprise risk management, etc.Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to adapt to changeAbility to proactively take ownership of projects and drive them through to completionAbility to perform independent research, identify valuable transaction opportunities, and deliver analyses and recommendations to senior managementStrong desire to “roll-up sleeves”The Ideal QualificationsExperience in capital management, actuarial pricing, hedging and/or M&A/reinsurance transaction analysisExpertise in structuring transactions to balance rating agency, regulatory capital, tax, accounting, and economic considerationsKnowledge of statutory, rating agency, and economic capital frameworksKnowledge of US GAAP and statutory accountingExperience leading cross-functional projects with competing constraints through to successExperience influencing senior management on strategic decisionsDetail-oriented with demonstrated oral and written communication skillsPrior management experienceWhat to Expect as Part of MassMutual and the TeamRegular meetings with the Treasury and other Financial Planning & Analysis teamsFocused one-on-one meetings with your managerAccess to a collaborative network within the team with connected objectivesNetworking opportunities including access to Asian, Hispanic/Latinx, African American, women, LGBTQ, veteran and disability-focused Business Resource GroupsAccess to learning content on Degreed and other informational platformsYour ethics and integrity will be valued by a company with a strong and stable ethical nosiness with industry leading pay and benefits#LI-ST1MassMutual is an equal employment opportunity employer.
