Cns Receiving Specialist
Position Title: Cns Receiving Specialist Working Title: Cns Receiving Specialist School/Department: Child Nutrition Services Location: Rock Quarry Road Office Complex, Raleigh, NC Pay Grade: Noncertified Grade 21 FLSA Status: Nonexempt Eligibility For Employment Contract: No Work Week Schedule: Monday-Friday Shifts: (6:30am - 3:00pm or 7:00am - 3:30pm) This position follows a variable work calendar based on operational needs. Shifts are determined by the supervisor. Work assignments may occur during school closure periods, including breaks and summer months. The position also participates in a rotating on-call schedule to support emergency or time-sensitive operational needs. Position Purpose
Accurately receives and processes incoming shipments of food, supplies, and equipment to schools for child nutrition operations; performs work related to warehouse receiving, pulling orders, and order pick-up. Performs quality control inspections of received goods. Performs daily inspections of material handling equipment. Assists in securing and storing food service equipment that has been condemned or surpluses from school sites. Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (Ksas) Knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel; Google Apps; Knowledge of warehouse operational methods, procedures, policies, rules, and regulations; Knowledge of safe and proper loading and unloading of delivery vehicles; Effective time management skills; Ability to perform basic math calculations; Ability to follow multi-step written and oral instructions; Ability to work independently and with limited supervision and perform both original and recurring assignments, and exercise quality judgement in the absence of clear directives; Ability to meet deadlines and work as part of a team; Ability to drive a large delivery truck; Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form in English using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, external agencies, attorneys, parents, and the public. Education, Training, And Experience High school diploma or equivalent; Two years of experience in driving a large delivery truck; Two years of warehouse experience involving the receipt, storage and distribution of food and supplies utilizing warehouse equipment. An equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully meet the essential duties may be considered. Certification And License Requirements Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of North Carolina requirements; Within 60 days of employment complete training and certification requirements as a forklift operator; Within 60 days of employment, successfully complete Child Nutrition Services Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (Hacccp) training. Preferred Qualifications
Current Commercial Driver's License (Cdl); Experience in food service, warehouse operations, or delivery; Four years of experience in driving a large delivery truck; Servsafe Certification. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Prepares receiving dock to accept incoming product by maintaining cleanliness of receiving areas and trash areas. Loads and unloads delivery vehicles containing a variety of food products, supplies, chemicals, and equipment. Operates a forklift, electric pallet jack, or delivery vehicles in a safe manner to move received product. Inspects product to ensure product integrity, checks product temperature, as needed, and verifies product expiration codes. Receives and processes delivery acknowledgement receipts and matches receipts and packing slips against purchase orders to ensure accuracy. Prepares and picks canned goods, frozen food products, paper supplies, office materials, chemicals, kitchen smallware items, and large equipment for delivery. Receives, stores, palletizing, staging, and rotates goods in the central warehouse in accordance with Hacccp and uses best practices for handling potentially hazardous chemicals, including counting inventory. Performs follow-up procedures on orders and reports with required documentation, damages, shortages, and discrepancies. Occasionally operates a large delivery truck for drop off and pick up of foods, supplies, materials and food service equipment. Monitors and maintains storage areas and warehouse equipment in a neat, clean, and orderly manner and recommends items for re-order to maintain necessary products, materials, and supplies on hand. Attends annual training in accordance with the National School Lunch Program federal regulations for professional standards and maintains documentation of attendance for auditing purposes. Performs other related duties, as assigned. Work Environment/Physical Requirements This job operates in a professional office, warehouse, and cafeteria environment. Work requires exposure to variable weather elements when making deliveries. It is also performed in variable environments with exposure to hot, cold, and freezing temperatures and moderate noise levels. The work frequently requires driving automotive equipment and operating warehouse forklifts and pallet jacks. Work is considered heavy physical work, requiring the exertion of up to 100 pounds of force occasionally or 50 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, staff members of external funding agencies, and the community.
