Overview

The Specialist, Global Trade Compliance supports Global Trade, Legal, and Supply Chain Leadership in executing the organization's global trade compliance vision and strategy. This role strengthens internal controls, mitigates regulatory risks, and enhances international trade efficiencies.

The Specialist is responsible for customs compliance and customs master data for a cross-border product portfolio. This includes maintaining product commercial descriptions, HTS classifications (US, CA, MX), Schedule B codes, FDA/CFIA requirements, and Country of Origin determinations. The role also supports import/export activity, product label review, entry corrections, broker communication, and Free Trade Agreement (FTA) qualification using SAP/GTS.

This team operates globally with a focus on North America. Up to 10% travel may be required, along with occasional work outside normal hours.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

40% - Master Data Support (Global) Maintain customs master data across SAP and third-party import systems. Manage imported & exported materials lists, new item setup, and broker databases. Track sourcing changes. Oversee eligibility for FTAs including USMCA and global export FTAs for the US and CA regions. 30% - Global Trade Regulatory Review

Perform accurate HTS classification with subject-matter expertise. Conduct Country of Origin determinations and compliance reviews. ssess Partner Government Agency requirements and compliance affirmations. Manage permits, licensing, and coordination with Quality and other departments. Support reconciliation entries and monitor regulatory updates. 15% - Audit & Reporting

Conduct post-summary audits (HTS code, COO, valuation, documentation). Create and manage ACE reports, KPIs, and related reporting. 10% - Project Stakeholder (US/CA)

Participate in business and departmental projects as needed. 5% - Customs Escalations & Team Support (US/CA)

Work with stakeholders to resolve customs-related clearance delays. Role Dimension s

Customs Reconciliation Country of Origin & Marking HTS Classification & FTA Qualification Pre-Screening Questions Provide examples of managing FTA Qualification, Eligibility & Process Standardization. Provide examples of HTS Classification & COO Determination. Describe tools used for managing large datasets (Power BI, Access, Microsoft Forms preferred).

Requirements

Must-Haves

~6 years of relevant experience Experience with SAP GTS / S4, Power BI, Microsoft Office Industry experience in Client or chocolate/confectionery preferred bility to manage process standardization and automation challenges Education

Required:

High School Diploma + min. 6 years industry experience Preferred :

Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Operations, Business Admin, or related field Customs Broker License Master Customs Specialist / Certified Customs Specialist Minimum of 4 years industry experience Experience & Skills

Strong understanding of import processes, customs compliance, reconciliation & drawback. Knowledge of broker operations. Understanding of global trade compliance issues. Proficiency with databases, spreadsheets, MS Access, and general PC skills. Strong communication, organization, follow-up, and prioritization skills. High attention to detail and adaptability. Strong initiative and problem-solving skills.
