with us. The Associate Director, GBS will support BD’s multi-year Global Business Services (GBS) transformation. As the senior HRBP and trusted advisor to the head of GBS and the GBS leadership team, this role drives the people, culture, organizational, and change strategies needed to build a scalable, high-performing, globally integrated organization. This lead HR role will guide and architect organizational structure and design, assess and develop critical to success capabilities, and guide complex workforce transitions—including build/buy/partner decisions and BPO (outsource) strategy. The role collaborates with the Regional HRBPs across the global service center locations and partners closely with HR COEs, Finance, Legal, and others to drive and enable the talent strategy for the function.
This position is ideal for a HR leader with global shared services experience, transformation acumen, and the ability to unite diverse teams around a clear vision—enabling stronger business outcomes for BD, our associates, and the patients we serve. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Strategic HR Business Partnership Serve as the primary HR advisor on organizational effectiveness, leadership, culture, workforce strategy, and transformation priorities. Translate GBS strategy into actionable people, location, and capability plans, influencing build/buy/partner and insource/outsource decisions. Guide leaders through complex decision-making leveraging data, workforce analytics, and talent insights. Provide executive-level coaching that reinforces a growth-oriented, feedback-rich leadership culture. Regional HRBP Collaboration Strong collaboration and partnership with Regional HRBPs to ensure consistency in standards, policies, practices, and change adoption across service centers. Establish harmonized operating mechanisms, transformation playbooks, and performance measures. Organization Design & Workforce Transformation Architect the future-state GBS organizational structure—including spans/layers, role clarity, and decision-rights frameworks. Lead end-to-end workforce planning, talent segmentation, and succession strategies for critical roles. Partner with global service center site leaders to align workforce plans, operating rhythms, and capability needs. Co-create GBS career architecture and capability frameworks with the Talent COE. GBS Center Openings, Expansions & Location Strategy Lead or advise on new global center openings and expansions, including location analysis, talent market insights, regulatory readiness, onboarding, and ramp to productivity. Guide process migrations to ensure controlled transitions, structured knowledge transfer, and strong change adoption. Ensure global alignment across service centers regarding operating standards and capability expectations. BPO Strategy & Governance Provide strategic HR guidance for vendor selection, contracting, SLAs, MSAs, and ongoing performance governance. Support the BPO leader in designing talent, operating, and performance models that enable business continuity and quality. Change Management & Adoption Lead enterprise-scale change initiatives including stakeholder alignment, communications, training, readiness, and adoption metrics. Drive change leadership capability across GBS by embedding structured approaches to transformation, continuous improvement, and organizational learning. Organizational Effectiveness & Development Provide strategic counsel to leaders across multiple global service owners and service lines to address capability, capacity, and culture opportunities. Lead initiatives in workforce planning, organization design, engagement, and talent architecture to enable business growth. Apply advanced data analysis to diagnose organizational health, identify gaps, and present insights to leadership. Design and facilitate team development strategies to improve performance and alignment. Talent Management & Acquisition Partner with leaders and HR COEs to build talent pipelines aligned with GBS strategies. Lead talent reviews, succession planning, and development planning for critical roles. Participate in senior and critical role hiring, providing strategic counsel to hiring teams. Drive performance management outcomes that promote accountability and a high-performing team culture. EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION Required: Bachelor’s degree 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including senior HRBP experience leading transformation initiatives Demonstrated success in multi-regional GBS/shared services environments driving organizational design, workforce transformation, and complex change. Experience supporting a greenfield transformation or major operating model shift. Strong executive presence with demonstrated influence across a global, matrixed organization. Preferred: Direct experience launching or expanding global service centers and managing BPO providers. Experience in medtech, life sciences, or similarly regulated global industries. Graduate degree (MBA, MS/MA in HR) or OD/change management certification.
