The Internet Director
is a senior-level position responsible for managing the dealership's online presence, driving digital lead generation, and overseeing the Business Development Center (BDC) or internet sales team to convert online traffic into showroom appointments.
Core Responsibilities
Team Leadership:
Hire, train, motivate, and monitor the performance of Internet Sales Managers and BDC representatives. Lead Management:
Monitor all incoming internet leads, phone calls, and live chat inquiries, ensuring 100% are contacted within a set timeframe (e.g., 15 minutes). Digital Strategy:
Develop and implement comprehensive internet sales strategies, including SEO/SEM, website content management, and third-party lead provider management. CRM Administration:
Oversee the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool to ensure proper logging, follow-up, and data accuracy. Sales Conversion:
Set and achieve monthly goals for appointments booked, appointments shown, and vehicles sold. Merchandising:
Work with inventory managers to ensure vehicle photos, descriptions, and pricing are accurate and compelling online. Reporting:
Analyze lead sources, ROI, and sales metrics to report on department performance to the General Sales Manager or Dealer Principal. Key Qualifications
Experience:
Proven experience as an Internet Sales Manager or BDC Manager in a dealership setting. Skills:
Expertise in digital marketing, CRM software, and the automotive sales process. Communication:
Strong leadership, communication, and phone skills. Technical:
Familiarity with website CMS platforms and inventory management systems.
