$29.21 - $37.35 per hour. Hours:

Part-time, 10-20 hours per week. Schedule:

Somewhat flexible within standard business hours (8 am - 5 pm). Appointment Type:

Temporary. The Motorcycle Injury Prevention (MIP) team at the University of South Florida's Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR) is seeking a creative and versatile Web Designer with a strong background in Graphic Design and Communications.

In this role, you will be a visual storyteller for our statewide traffic safety campaigns. We are looking for a candidate who can blend technical WordPress skills with a keen eye for design to develop engaging digital and print content.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Web Design & Maintenance:

Design and maintain custom WordPress websites, ensuring high-quality visual appeal and responsive functionality. Visual Content Creation:

Develop high-impact graphics for social media campaigns and traditional print materials (brochures, posters, etc.) to support traffic safety initiatives. Brand Consistency:

Collaborate with the research team to ensure all digital and print assets align with campaign goals and messaging. Optimization:

Improve website performance, security, and SEO while ensuring a seamless user experience across all devices. Troubleshooting:

Debug issues and stay current with WordPress best practices and emerging design trends. Qualifications

Requirements

Creative Expertise:

Proven experience in graphic design and web design, with a strong portfolio showcasing both digital and print work. Technical Proficiency:

Skilled in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and WordPress theme customization. Communications Background:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate research goals into compelling visual narratives. Software Skills:

Proficiency in design tools and a solid understanding of responsive design and SEO principles. Experience:

A Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Communications, Design, IT) with three years of experience working on CMS websites, or a total of six years of related experience. Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree. • Senate Bill 1310- The Florida Senate (https://www.flsenate.gov/Session/Bill/2023/1310) is conditional upon meeting all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S. • SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements • A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed: • (a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree; • (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree; • (c) Six years of direct experience for a master's degree; • (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or • (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree • Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment. • Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310. Preferred Qualifications

Experience with PHP and MySQL for deeper CMS customization. Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue.js) or e-commerce platforms (WooCommerce) Experience with social media management and analytics
