About the Role We are looking for a
Referral Follow-Up Specialist
to join the team remotely. This role is responsible for managing and coordinating all patient referrals to specialists, imaging centers, and other healthcare providers. The ideal candidate will ensure that referrals are completed efficiently, documentation is accurately maintained, and communication flows smoothly between nurses, doctors, patients, and providers.
This is a fully remote, independent role where organization, communication, and follow-up skills are essential.
Responsibilities
Follow up on all outgoing referrals to confirm receipt by the referred physician or facility.
Notify nursing staff promptly when referrals are received and ensure patient appointments are scheduled.
Obtain and track referral documentation, including provider visit notes, surgical reports, and imaging results.
Maintain accurate records and upload all received documentation to the patient’s chart.
Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, providers, and internal staff regarding referral status and next steps.
Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure timely completion of referrals.
Track and document all referral activity in internal systems.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
Comfortable making frequent outbound calls to patients, providers, and facilities.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple referrals simultaneously.
Knowledge of healthcare terminology and referral processes (U.S. or international experience acceptable).
Professional, courteous, and patient-focused demeanor.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in healthcare referrals, care coordination, or medical records.
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Previous experience working with physician offices, hospitals, or imaging centers.
Full-Time Position, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST.
Starting salary: $1,300 +USD per month.
100% Remote work environment.
Contract: Independent Contractor.
