
Account Manager (Cradle-To-Grave Freight Broker)
Role Overview
The Account Manager role functions as a full cradle to grave freight broker position. This role owns freight execution from pickup through delivery while actively prospecting, closing, and growing new customer accounts.
This is not a service only role. Account Managers are responsible for quoting, booking, carrier negotiation, and load management while building their own book of business in a fast-paced brokerage environment. As your book reaches scale, you will be eligible for dedicated support teams (Track & Trace, Carrier Sales, CSR, etc.), allowing increased focus on revenue growth and account strategy.
Key Responsibilities Cradle to Grave Freight Execution
Quote, book, and manage shipments from pickup through delivery
Source and negotiate with carriers to balance service and margin
Track freight and communicate proactively with customers
Maintain full ownership of loads until accounts reach scale
New Business Development
Prospect, and onboard new customer accounts
Build and manage a self-generated sales pipeline
Drive revenue growth through new customer acquisition and expansion
Account Ownership and Strategy
Own customer relationships end to end
Set pricing strategies and negotiate rates
Identify opportunities to expand lanes, modes, and volume
Market and Process Management
Maintain accurate activity and shipment records
Monitor market conditions and pricing trends
Utilize TMS and internal systems effectively
Qualifications
Minimum 1+ year experience in freight brokerage or logistics
Proven ability to bring on new business
Experience using TMS systems
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Entrepreneurial, performance-driven mindset
