
KEPHART
is seeking an experienced
Project Designer
to lead architectural design from concept through design development in either our
Phoenix or Denver office . This role is ideal for a creative, self‑directed architectural designer who excels at translating client vision into compelling design solutions through sketching, hand‑rendering, and 3D modeling. You will work independently on design tasks while collaborating closely with project managers, technical staff, and leadership to ensure design excellence is maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with the Director of Architecture/Design and Senior Project Designer to engage with clients and guide overall design direction.
Assist in defining client design goals, priorities, and project requirements.
Develop and articulate project design intent that aligns with client expectations and project constraints.
Clearly communicate and “sell” design concepts through presentations, drawings, and visual materials.
Project Execution & Coordination
Maintain and coordinate the design vision throughout all project phases and across multiple disciplines.
Work closely with Project Manager during meetings with city officials, design review boards (DRBs), HOAs, and other authorities.
Research and apply applicable zoning codes, building codes, and local ordinances to design solutions.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality, consistency, and clear communication.
Production & Standards
Prepare design and presentation drawings, renderings, and material boards.
Implement KEPHART design standards, including QA/QC processes and Revit best practices.
Ensure design intent is accurately translated into project documentation.
Team Development & Growth
Coach and support project team members with a focus on design skills and professional development.
Communicate design performance and needs with studio and architecture leadership.
Participate in ongoing education and professional development opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program.
5–10 years of professional architectural design experience.
Architectural licensure preferred but not required.
Strong conceptual design skills with the ability to produce high‑quality presentation and design drawings.
Advanced verbal and visual communication skills, including client presentations.
Proven ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
SOFTWARE PROFICIENCY
Revit (required) with working knowledge of QA/QC workflows
SketchUp
Rendering / Visualization Software (such as 3ds Max, Lumion, Twinmotion, Unreal, or similar)
Sketchbook or comparable hand‑sketching tools
