
Our client, a community bank in the Detroit area, is seeking a Commercial Credit Underwriter with experience across Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and Commercial Real Estate (CRE) lending.
Responsibilities
Underwrite and analyze C&I and CRE credit requests, including new originations, renewals, and modifications
Perform financial statement analysis, cash flow analysis, and global cash flow assessments
Assess collateral, guarantor strength, and covenant structures
Prepare clear and concise credit memoranda for loan committee and senior management
Monitor portfolio risk, including covenant compliance and credit quality trends
Partner with relationship managers to structure deals within bank policy and regulatory standards
Support problem loan identification and credit reviews as needed
Qualifications
3+ years of commercial credit underwriting experience within a bank or similar lending institution
Hands‑on experience underwriting both C&I and CRE loans
Strong financial analysis and credit writing skills
Working knowledge of loan structures, collateral, and risk rating methodologies
Familiarity with regulatory requirements applicable to community banks
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field
