Overview Our client, a prominent regional bank, is seeking a C&I Underwriter to manage the analysis and credit approval process for middle-market operating companies. The role focuses on revolving lines of credit, term loans, and asset-based lending structures for NYC-based businesses.

Responsibilities

Financial Analysis:

Conduct in-depth analysis of corporate financial statements, including cash flow modeling, working capital cycles, and debt service coverage.

Risk Rating:

Evaluate borrower quality, industry trends, and management strength to recommend internal risk ratings.

Structuring:

Assist Relationship Managers in structuring credit facilities to mitigate identified risks while meeting client needs.

Underwriting:

Author detailed credit memoranda for senior management and loan committee approval.

Portfolio Oversight:

Monitor a portfolio of existing C&I loans, including annual reviews, covenant compliance tracking, and borrowing base certificate verification.

Compliance:

Ensure all files meet internal credit policies and regulatory requirements (BSA/AML/KYC).

Required Qualifications

Experience:

5+ years in C&I credit underwriting or portfolio management within a commercial or regional bank.

Specialization:

Proven experience with cash-flow lending and asset-based lending (ABL) structures.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; completion of a formal bank credit training program is preferred.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Excel (advanced modeling) and credit software such as Moody’s or Abrigo.

Local Market Knowledge:

Familiarity with the NYC middle-market landscape and diverse industry sectors.
