Systems Designer – Building Automation & HVAC Controls
Position Summary
Conti Corporation is seeking a detailed, technically strong Systems Designer to join our Building Automation & HVAC Controls team in Albuquerque, NM. This role supports the complete design and engineering of HVAC control systems, including hardware layouts, sequences of operation, graphics, network architecture, software programming, submittals, and as‑built documentation.
Working closely with project managers, technicians, specialists, mechanical contractors, and customers, the Systems Designer ensures all Building Automation System (BAS) design packages are accurate, compliant, and delivered on schedule.
Produce HVAC control system hardware designs including flow diagrams, sequences of operation, network layouts, bills of material, and electrical schematics.
Develop BAS/HVAC controls software programming using standard engineering templates and guidelines.
Prepare installation drawings, equipment schedules, and submittal packages.
Select, order, and track material deliveries; coordinate factory-mounted components to meet project timelines.
Commissioning & Field Support
Assist with loading, configuring, and commissioning field and network controllers.
Validate system functionality, troubleshoot installation issues, and support field teams.
Capture field changes and update as‑built drawings and programming.
Documentation & Customer Support
Prepare O&M manuals, submittal documents, and system turnover packages.
Assist with owner/operator training on BAS systems.
Maintain clear communication with project managers, mechanics, and customers regarding design status and required updates.
General Responsibilities
Maintain organized documentation, drawing files, and revision logs.
Complete operational paperwork including time sheets, expenses, and field records.
Follow Conti safety standards and maintain a safe work environment.

Required Qualifications
Minimum three years of experience installing or commissioning controls systems.
Strong understanding of HVAC systems, digital controls, mechanical equipment, and electrical fundamentals.
Advanced computer skills, including BAS software tools and drafting/CAD applications.
Ability to interpret control diagrams, sequences of operation, and network architecture.
For advanced‑level roles: at least two additional years of experience producing control system hardware designs.
Software Requirements (Updated)
AutoCAD
– proficient in drafting control diagrams, layouts, and schematics.
Revit
– ability to work within BIM models for mechanical/controls coordination.
Microsoft Visio
– capable of producing network diagrams, system workflows, and layout graphics.
Top Must-Haves
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to support multiple concurrent projects.
Ability to clearly communicate design information to project managers, technicians, and customers.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Delta Controls systems.
Previous employment with BAS companies such as Johnson Controls, Siemens, Trane, Automated Logic, Varitec, or ACS.
Experience developing BAS graphics and integration pathways.
Familiarity with design‑build HVAC controls and building automation scopes.
Unstable employment history or repeated short‑term roles without clear justification.
Primarily located in the Albuquerque office with occasional field visits.
Works closely with system specialists, HVAC leads, project managers, and technicians.
