Instructional Designer – Workday HCM Transformation

Location:

Chicago, IL (Rotates from 2 to 3 days onsite weekly-Hybrid In-Office, Willis Tower), M-F 9am – 5pm

Travel:

10% Travel to Local Sites

Duration & Type:

Initial 6-month Contract with potential extension or conversion

Compensation:

Competitive hourly W2 rate ( $33-$35 per hour ), with access to healthcare and dental insurance plans

Summary Chamberlain Advisors is partnering with our direct client in the airline industry in search of a Senior Instructional Designer – Workday HCM Transformation to support a major enterprise-wide HR transformation initiative centered on the implementation of Workday HCM. We are seeking a Senior Instructional Designer – Workday HCM Transformation to support technical enablement and system adoption across HR, Payroll, leadership, and enterprise employee populations. This role requires strong technical depth, experience supporting Workday implementations, and the ability to design scalable learning strategies that drive measurable adoption and behavior change.

This role is focused on translating complex system configurations and evolving future‑state processes into clear, just‑in‑time, enterprise‑ready learning solutions. The ideal candidate brings technical depth, strong ADDIE discipline, and experience translating complex system configurations into practical, role‑based learning for diverse audiences across HR, Payroll, leadership, and frontline teams.

What You Will Be Accountable For

Direct experience supporting Workday HCM implementations

Experience supporting enterprise HRIS or HR technology transformations

Strong knowledge of ADDIE methodology

Experience designing for enterprise‑wide system adoption initiatives

Ability to translate complex technical processes into accessible learning

Strong cross‑functional collaboration skills

Excellent written and verbal communication

Ability to thrive in ambiguity and move forward with partial information

Strong problem‑solving mindset with balanced focus on speed, quality, and impact

Experience with microlearning tools (7Taps, Vyond, Synthesia)

Exposure to immersive or VR‑based learning

Experience implementing ServiceNow (HR module preferred)

Familiarity with change management and adoption strategies

Experience in phased or agile system deployment environments

What Qualifications You Need

3+ years of instructional design and learning development experience

Direct experience supporting enterprise HR technology implementations (e.g., Workday or comparable HCM platforms)

Experience supporting large‑scale enterprise transformations or operating model changes

Strong project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities in fast‑paced environments

Proficiency with: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Articulate 360 / Rise

Reliable attendance is essential

Experience in complex corporate enterprise environments

Experience with microlearning tools such as 7Taps, Synthesia, or Vyond

Experience implementing ServiceNow (ServiceNow for HR preferred)

Strong business acumen with ability to translate enterprise needs into impactful learning solutions

Familiarity with change management frameworks and technology adoption strategies

Experience working in agile or phased system deployment environments

Willingness to travel up to 10%
