
Job Description
The purpose of the Distribution Designer position is to apply technical skills to design complex projects that are safe, cost effective and reliable distribution power facilities for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare project and job packages that include material lists, requisitions, labor estimates, site drawings and construction drawings for various installations of electrical facilities in a cost-effective manner that maximizes safety and service reliability. Read and interpret blueprints, maps, change orders, improvement plans, construction specifications, procedure manuals, operational procedures, etc. Perform drafting work and assist in the preparation of designs, plans and reports. Make accurate engineering calculations. Apply various codes, requirements, regulations, policies, and procedures to all assigned work to create safe and cost-effective designs for projects of moderate complexity for both overhead and underground projects. Use various design software and work management tools. Follow utility construction practices on public right of way (ROW) and private land. Regularly communicate job status to assure client expectations and deliverable dates are met. Coordinate with construction personnel and clients to resolve any project issues. Develop relationships with key internal and external customers while supporting both company and client's business goals and expectations while representing themselves both positively and professionally. Maintain files and records in an organized manner. Required:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Preferably Electrical 2 plus years of power distribution design experience Strong written and verbal communication skills
