Inside Sales Representative

The Inside Sales Representative serves in a key customer service role on a day-to-day basis and assists Regional Sales Managers with customer forecasts, manage accounts via SSAB automated sales system, plan and maintain inventory programs through customer interactions and internal scheduling. Essential Functions Sales: Conduct sales calls with Regional Sales Manager (RSM) and develop good customer relations. Order entry via electronic order entry system. Field sales inquiries from, and prepare and submit price quotations to, customers. Gather information and process claims via electronic entry system. Enter pricing exceptions and contractual business items into system for approval. Expedite orders and report order status to customers. Gather market information. Investigate and request approval for price discrepancies. Notify customers of any and all price changes and surcharges Obtain and disseminate customer feedback to appropriate SSAB personnel. Communication/Intra-Departmental Cooperation: Maintain communication with outside sales representative (OSR) to exchange important customer information, including, but not limited to: Special customer needs Order information: pricing, delivery, status, Claims Market information Work closely with RSM and OSR through an effective team dynamic Proactively anticipate customer needs and resolve customer issues. Maintain ongoing dialogue with SSAB shipping, credit, purchasing, scheduling, and quality departments in order to ensure quality customer service and product. Administration: Maintain customer profiles. Write and submit weekly highlight reports. Complete and submit expense reports. Conduct all business within the scope of SSAB's company policies and procedures. Qualifications Competencies and Experience Required: Strong oral and written communication skills Strong organizational and computer skills Preferred: Previous steel and/or steel-related industry experience and product knowledge desirable Education Required: Associate degree or equivalent experience Preferred: Bachelor's degree Supervisory Responsibilities / Direct Reports Position has no supervisory responsibilities. The position requires the following vision and hearing capabilities: Talking person to person, on the phone, and/or in group settings Hearing in person, on the phone, and/or in group settings Vision at near and midrange Position Type/Expected Hours of Work/Travel Requirements Position is full time, Salaried(non-exempt), and is eligible for overtime. Position works an eight (8) hour day shift Occasionally (1-33%) travel by driving or airplane.
