Job Summary Assists with the day-to-day administration of employee benefit enrollments, benefit plan audits, and the reconciliation and payment of benefit plan invoices and fees. Informs and advises employees on benefits matters regarding eligibility, coverage and provisions. Processes employee and pensioner enrollment data. Calculates contributions, compiles, and maintains accurate benefits records and documentation. Maintains HRIS by processing confidential employee information and records. Identifies process improvement/automation opportunities and troubleshoots issues with workflows, security, and employee records.
Essential Functions
Serve as one of the primary points of contact for the day-to-day administration of benefit programs. Provides accurate response and resolution to complex questions regarding coverage and/or claims.
Process all health, dental, disability, reimbursement, and life insurance plan changes for active and retired employees.
Monitor employee insurance premium contributions to ensure they are accurate and correctly correspond to payroll deductions.
Process monthly pensioner payroll deduction and insurance plan changes.
Reconcile and process invoice payments for voluntary and company-paid life insurance plans for active employees and pensioners.
Process, reconcile and/or review monthly medical, dental, vision, and short- and long-term disability insurance premium billing invoices.
Administer EGWP (Employee Group Waiver Plans) Medicare Prescription Drug Plan; sends monthly eligible employee files to third party administrator and updates participant information as necessary.
Maintain integrity and accuracy of employee data within HRIS, including through maintenance of employee records and fixing data when necessary.
Support HR and department leaders by producing Ad Hoc reports.
Manage, maintain, and monitor benefit and employee files within HRIS and other electronic or paper-based document management systems.
Ensure HRIS is secured, and personnel information is confidential and secure.
Provide support to all users including employees, retirees and survivors with questions and issues related to benefits offered by MTS.
Deliver benefits portion of new employee orientation.
Prepare correspondence related to all benefits offered by MTS. Correspondence can entail information regarding issues such as enrollment requests, plan eligibility, evidence of insurability and new enrollments.
Prepare life insurance claims, communication and other requests and forward to the life insurance carrier for processing.
Monitor weekly vendor files through HRIS and review for discrepancies. This includes but is not limited to verifying plan eligibility and responding to vendors accordingly.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Management or related field required. Related experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Three (3) years of experience required in benefits administration.
Three (3) years of experience within HRIS system(s) as an administrator or backend user required Experience with Ceridian/Dayforce preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Knowledge of MCTS operations.
Knowledge of union contracts.
Knowledge of HRIS systems.
Knowledge of document management solutions.
Ability to use Microsoft Office and other software used within the position.
Knowledge of Employment and Labor laws.
Ability to pay close attention to details.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Excellent customer service skills, both verbally and in writing.
Excellent customer services skills with ability to speak with the public and employees within all levels of the company.
Ability to exercise discernment and judgement with the ability to adapt to various situations.
Knowledge of health, dental, vision, disability and life insurance.
Ability to effectively use various types of office equipment.
Knowledge and ability to accurately apply basic mathematical skills.
Neat, legible handwriting.
Maintain regular and acceptable attendance as determined by MTS.
Physical Requirements And Environmental Factors
Work is frequently conducted in an office or similar indoor environment relatively free from unpleasant conditions or hazards.
Physical requirements are those described as sedentary work exerting 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently.
