Position Summary Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Senior Executive Director Facilities is responsible for the administration, management and leadership of Hospital Facilities and Support Services; Engineering Operations (Clinical, Facilities, and Plant); Facilities Planning (space planning, new and renovation construction, interior design, and furniture), Grounds/Landscape maintenance, Materials Management, Gift Shop/Caring Cup, Value Analysis, Environmental Services and Food & Nutrition. Ensure adherence to Hospital and departmental policies and procedures. No patient care assignment.

Detailed Responsibilities

DIRECTION – Direct activities of the department and/or programs in accordance with Hospitals policies and objectives

SUPERVISION – Develop efficient organizational structure. Supervise employees and select, terminate, train, educate, correct deficiencies, perform appraisals, issue discipline, counsel, schedule work assignments; encourage staff teamwork and growth initiatives

GOALS AND PLANS – Participate in the development of long range goals and strategic plans for assigned area(s)

PLANNING – Analyze areas of planning and operational efficiency and make recommendations for improvement. Assist in planning new services and programs

BUSINESS PLANS – Prepare business plans to support new programs and expansion proposals

FINANCES – Ensure proper allocation of financial resources, and monitor department budgets and spending

COORDINATE – Interact with all appropriate department managers to develop, coordinate, and integrate cost management programs into departmental services by assisting with program development, data collection, analysis, implementation, monitoring, and follow-up

COMPLIANCE – Ensure the department/areas comply with all applicable fiscal and regulatory requirements

COMMITTEES AND MEETINGS – Participate in hospital/medical staff meetings and committees as required

BUDGET – Develop and administer the division's annual budget; monitor and approve expenditures

REPORTS – Prepare periodic reports for administration as required

POLICY & PROCEDURE – Develop and recommend area policies, procedures and programs to ensure departmental and program effectiveness

PROJECTS – Develop and determine priorities and continually monitor status of special projects

SERVICE – Attend and serve on professional/civic service organizations as a UNM Hospitals representative

DEVELOPMENT – Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise

Qualifications Education:

Master's Degree (Essential)

Related Discipline (Essential)

Experience:

5 years experience at director level in a hospital setting (Essential)

No preferred experience (Nonessential)

Physical Conditions: Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. May require walking or standing to a significant degree or requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or may require working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of materials is negligible.
