The Pharmacy Consultant is responsible for providing expert pharmacy services and advice to healthcare organizations, patients, and other stakeholders. The role requires strong clinical knowledge and expertise in medication management, as well as the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Provide expert pharmacy consultation services to healthcare organizations, patients, and other stakeholders
Develop and implement medication management strategies to optimize patient outcomes
Conduct medication therapy reviews to identify and resolve medication‑related problems
Provide patient education on medication use, side effects, and interactions
Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement medication‑related policies and procedures
Stay up-to-date on the latest developments in pharmacy practice, including new medications, drug interactions, and regulatory changes
Develop and deliver education and training programs for healthcare professionals and patients
Provide guidance and support to pharmacy staff on medication management and dispensing practices
Analyze medication utilization data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
Serve as a subject matter expert on pharmacy‑related topics for internal and external stakeholders
Qualifications
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution
Current pharmacist licensure in the state of practice
Minimum of 3‑5 years of experience in a clinical pharmacy or pharmacy consulting role
Strong clinical knowledge and expertise in medication management
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with healthcare teams and patients
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Experience with medication therapy management software and electronic health records (EHRs)
Flexibility to travel as needed
