We are seeking a skilled
Surplus Lines Tax Advisory Specialist
to join our team at Marsh. This hybrid role is based in Austin, TX, with an expectation of working in the office at least three days per week. As part of our Operations team, you'll help ensure surplus lines placements are fully compliant while supporting brokers and internal partners across complex transactions. We will count on you to: • Partner with client‑facing and market‑facing teams to review escalations and confirm surplus lines placements are compliant before binding • Ensure accurate invoicing and timely submission of documentation to the surplus lines processing unit • Guide colleagues on placement workflows to support on‑time, accurate filings • Build and maintain relationships with regulators across assigned jurisdictions • Serve as the primary contact for escalations, audits, and regulatory inquiries • Stay current on state statutes, regulatory changes, and surplus lines requirements • Communicate surplus lines issues to clients and insurers in clear, practical terms • Advise on tax issues and remediation efforts within assigned territories • Mitigate fines and penalties by ensuring all placements meet coverage and filing requirements • Partner with Compliance on investigations, client-related issues, and corporate projects • Identify and raise opportunities to streamline surplus lines processes What you need to have: • Knowledge of surplus lines insurance, tax requirements, and compliance standards • Bachelor's degree preferred • 3+ years of experience; surplus lines experience strongly preferred • Active P&C broker license-or ability to obtain within 90 days • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort learning new systems • Strong client focus, professionalism, and relationship‑building skills Why join our team: • Professional development, meaningful work, and supportive leadership • A collaborative, inclusive culture where your work has real impact • Broad career opportunities, competitive benefits, and resources to support your well‑being
