
Infrastructure Technical Writer
Location: Alpharetta, GA or Marietta, GA
Duration: 6-12 Months contract to hire
Position Summary
The Infrastructure Technical Writer ensures the accurate, concise, and successful delivery of infrastructure technical documentation. This role is responsible for producing internal support documentation for enterprise-class infrastructure and cloud platforms.
Primary Responsibilities
Research and analyze requirements for new infrastructure environment builds. Conduct independent study of proposed data center and cloud solutions, including all related systems and hardware components. Create and maintain complex
Visio flow diagrams
that illustrate transaction traffic patterns, network connectivity, and configurable system components. Partner with project managers to plan documentation strategy and scheduling. Collaborate with distributed engineering teams-including Windows, Unix, Cloud, Network, Security, SQL Database, and Monitoring-to gather technical build information for documentation deliverables. Author and publish documentation for two primary audiences: Operations Support teams:
Online HTML knowledge articles authored in the Service Point Knowledge Management System. Platform Engineering:
Infrastructure reference guides authored in Microsoft Word. Host virtual documentation turnover sessions for Operations Support teams using Microsoft Teams. Participate as an active member of a centralized documentation team, contributing to peer reviews, mentoring, and the exchange of best practices. Documentation Formats

Four-year degree, preferably in
Computer Science
or
English . Minimum
10 years
of experience producing technical documentation, ideally within systems/hardware and data center infrastructure areas. Working knowledge of infrastructure server farms, network communication protocols, firewall security, monitoring systems, and WAN/LAN configurations. Strong proficiency in
Visio
diagramming. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be able to build rapport with engineers and translate complex concepts into clear documentation. Strong organizational and time-management abilities; able to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines while adapting to schedule changes. Self-starter with a track record of independent research and self-study for documentation needs. Experience hosting and managing
Microsoft Teams
meetings (large presentations and smaller collaborative sessions). Knowledge of documentation standards and processes, with willingness to support continuous improvement of documentation frameworks. Experience with
ServiceNow Knowledge Base
