Boone Supported Living is seeking a mission-driven, results-oriented
Area Director
to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight across our residential programs in the
Jefferson City, Missouri region .
This role serves as the primary operational leader for our Jefferson City homes and teams. The Area Director ensures high-quality services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) while maintaining compliance, developing leaders, and strengthening community partnerships.

About the Role The Area Director oversees Professional Managers and residential teams within the Jefferson City service area. This position is responsible for:
Operational leadership of all Jefferson City ISLs
Regulatory compliance and inspection readiness
Team performance and development
Crisis management and follow-through
Medical oversight and documentation compliance
Community and stakeholder relationships in the Jefferson City region
You will serve as the key liaison between Executive Leadership and the Jefferson City management teams, families, guardians, and state partners.
Key Responsibilities Regional Leadership – Jefferson City
Provide direct oversight to Professional Managers serving Jefferson City homes
Maintain consistent field presence across Jefferson City ISLs
Build strong working relationships with local Support Coordinators, Regional Office staff, nursing teams, and community providers
Ensure all Jefferson City programs are inspection-ready at all times
Leadership & Team Development
Coach and develop Professional Managers
Provide accountability and performance feedback
Support managers during service monitoring and state inspections
Ensure DSP training on ISPs, BSPs, crisis plans, and certification standards
Operations & Compliance
Ensure Jefferson City programs meet all DMH and regulatory requirements
Review and resolve APTs, EMTs, investigations, and corrective plans
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in Therap
Oversee emergency drills and compliance audits
Medical Oversight
Ensure medical appointments, labs, follow-ups, and documentation are completed
Monitor compliance for annual screenings and physician orders
Oversee medication records and nursing audit follow-ups
Communication & Stakeholder Relations
Serve as point person for Jefferson City families and guardians
Communicate staffing and budget needs to recruiting, scheduling, and accounting
Maintain regular communication with Executive Director and leadership team
Navigate difficult conversations professionally and confidently
Property & Program Standards
Ensure Jefferson City ISLs and company vehicles meet safety and cleanliness standards
Maintain state inspection readiness
Monitor food safety practices and property upkeep
Program Development
Assist in development of new ISLs within the Jefferson City region
Facilitate transitions for new individuals entering residential services
Support ISP development and measurable outcomes
Monitor progress toward individual goals
On-Call & Field Expectations
Participate in on-call rotation as assigned
Conduct regular in-person visits across Jefferson City homes
Attend weekly leadership and management meetings
Hold weekly 1:1 meetings with Professional Managers
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of management experience in IDD or related human services (Professional Manager/QDDP level or above preferred)
Minimum 10 years supporting individuals with IDD, preferably within DMH waiver services
Strong understanding of Missouri regulatory and service monitoring processes
Experience with Therap or similar EHR systems preferred
Proven leadership, coaching, and crisis management skills
Ability to work independently while maintaining strong executive communication
Must obtain and maintain required certifications
