Senior Director, Learning Experiences

provides strategic leadership for ASAE’s full in person educational portfolio—including the ASAE major conferences as well as other events. This role leads a high performing team responsible for the design, curation, and delivery of content rich, outcomes driven learning experiences that advance member competencies and model best practices for the association community. Working in close partnership with ASAE’s Meetings & Events (logistics) team, Digital Learning team, and Credentialing team, the Senior Director ensures a seamless, integrated learning journey across modalities. player/coach : they set the strategy and standards for the portfolio while also directly managing a select slate of programs to prototype innovation and maintain day to day fluency. Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

Partner with the Chief Learning & Meetings Officer to develop and implement a multiyear strategy for ASAE’s in person learning portfolio that aligns with ASAE’s mission, organizational strategy, and member needs. Define portfolio level learning outcomes, competencies, and content priorities; translate member insights, market trends, and evaluation data into a coherent annual programming roadmap. Champion innovation in adult learning and meeting design; pilot new formats and experiences that increase engagement, belonging, and measurable learning impact. Team Leadership

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of three direct reports (Director, Senior Manager, Manager), each with ownership of a distinct events portfolio; foster a collaborative, high performance culture grounded in accountability, continuous improvement, and shared standards. Establish team operating rhythms, decision frameworks, and review gates that ensure quality, timeliness, and cross program consistency. Program Design & Content Curation

Oversee end to end content strategy and curation for in person programs (themes, tracks, formats, instructional methods). Engage with volunteer leaders and lead the calls for proposals/topics process, abstract review; lead speaker/SME sourcing and coaching, and agenda development; ensure diversity of perspectives and inclusive program design. Set and uphold content quality standards (learning objectives, interactivity, assessment, takeaways, and post event application). Player/Coach Portfolio Ownership

Personally manage a select portfolio (e.g., a flagship program or two smaller programs), serving as executive producer for content architecture, speaker experience, and on?sitel delivery. Use owned programs as laboratories for innovation, iterating on session formats, engagement methods, and data collection that can be scaled across the portfolio. Operational Excellence

Build and manage program development calendars, submission/review timelines, and speaker deliverables; ensure content accuracy across websites, mobile apps, and printed materials. Partner with cross-functionally to develop and manage content side budgets and revenue targets for learning products; inform pricing, packaging, sponsorship opportunities, and forecasting. Document processes and playbooks that scale quality and reduce risk across the team. Qualifications Required

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 10+ years

of progressively responsible experience designing and leading education programs for professional audiences, including large, multi track conferences and in person workshops. Proven track record of content curation (CFP management, abstract review, speaker sourcing and coaching) and building agendas that drive measurable learning outcomes. Strong analytical skills; experience setting KPIs, interpreting evaluation data, and translating insights into program improvements. Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and facilitation skills; comfortable engaging volunteer leaders, executives, SMEs, sponsors, and partners. High attention to detail, ability to manage multiple event cycles simultaneously, and a disciplined approach to deadlines and deliverables. Preferred

CAE, CPLP/ATD, or relevant instructional design/learning science credential. Experience in the association sector. Travel & Work Conditions

Periodic travel required for on site event delivery, speaker/partner engagement, and member meetings. Extended hours may be required during peak event cycles. Work Environment
