Managing Director, Financial Sponsors Group (FSG)
Huntington’s Managing Director, Financial Sponsors Group (FSG) is a senior leader responsible for originating, developing and managing relationships with diverse financial sponsors, including private equity firms and other multi‑strategy asset managers. Our new colleague will manage client coverage and strategy, collaborating across corporate client coverage and product teams to deliver advice, relationships access, value‑added ideas and comprehensive financial solutions. The Managing Director will have a defined client and prospect coverage list and is expected to develop relationships with these firms to meet individual and team financial goals, contribute to the overall growth of the FSG and Huntington Bank, across Huntington Capital Markets and Capstone. This position requires a strong command of capital markets, investment banking, M&A, leveraged finance and credit fundamentals, with the ability to think creatively, collaborate across partner groups and drive for results while aligning with Huntington’s risk appetite and market conditions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary client coverage officer for approximately 20–40 financial sponsors.
Develop client strategy and organize relevant partners across Huntington, Huntington Capital Markets and Capstone to drive an intensive, proactive and value‑added calling effort in pursuit of deal mandates.
Build and maintain strong, multi‑faced, and trust‑based relationships with private equity firms and other institutional asset managers.
Lead and participate in origination and execution of new leveraged finance, debt capital markets and equity capital markets opportunities by partnering with colleagues across sector teams, capital markets product teams and commercial banking regional middle‑market teams.
Lead and participate in efforts to pursue M&A and other advisory mandates with Capstone, including positioning with clients around targeted sell‑side/buy‑side opportunities and Capstone’s engaged pipeline and sell‑side deal outreach.
Partner with industry and product teams to deliver integrated solutions.
Prioritize opportunities to effectively manage resources to build and acquire mandates across a robust pipeline of M&A, capital raising, and strategic advisory transactions.
Maintain pipeline, CRM systems, and track client activity metrics.
Lead, manage deal teams and participate in all phases of deal execution including negotiation of term sheets and commitment papers, financial and business due diligence, financial modeling, and valuation.
Lead the creation of pitch books for origination activities.
Lead or participate in the creation of deal‑related information memoranda and marketing materials.
Represent the firm in market‑facing activities and industry events.
Mentor and coach junior bankers and contribute to talent development.
Support junior bankers, recruiting and firm‑building initiatives.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
15 years’ experience in Financial Sponsors, Mergers & Acquisitions, Capital Markets, Investment Banking, or Corporate Finance.
FINRA Series 79, 63 (or equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications:
Proven and demonstrable track record in working with financial sponsors.
Significant and demonstrable investment banking and capital market transaction execution experience.
Strong private equity relationships with relevant firms.
Exceptional communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
Ability to lead teams and manage multiple complex engagements.
Strong understanding of sponsor‑driven transactions and private equity dynamics.
Sector expertise in one or more of Huntington’s focus industries (e.g., TMT, healthcare, industrials).
Proven ability to originate, develop and manage sophisticated private equity client relationships.

Compensation Range:
The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan.
