Core Responsibilities and Tasks The Product Stewardship Advisor serves as the single point of contact to internal stakeholders within the Global Architectural business on regulatory, product safety, and sustainability matters. The scope of the business includes the company’s store operations and retail customer distribution channels, primarily within North America but also with a global perspective. The Advisor drives continuous improvement through project work and process development.

Compliance Support:

Regulation reviews and assessments of new or changing regulations, providing updates to internal teams.

Act as the regional expert to advise on regulatory differences and conflicts.

Develop action plans collaboratively with the Global Architectural Product Stewardship team.

Execute actions and projects to support compliance strategies.

Represent Sherwin‑Williams’ Product Stewardship with trade associations, service provider working groups, and professional associations.

Define business rules for technology systems evaluating product compliance data and ensure compliance accuracy.

Customer and Business Support:

Respond independently to routine requests from stakeholders.

Collaborate with Legal to address non‑routine, complex requests from internal stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.

Serve as the point of contact for legislative, regulatory, product safety, and sustainability issues affecting the assigned portfolio of products.

Organize periodic meetings with business partners to discuss compliance matters and provide regulatory updates.

Collaborate with R&D, Marketing, Sales, and other stakeholders for strategic support.

Provide training and clarity on new or changing regulations to internal staff or external customers.

Develop formal communications and support the creation of others’ communications.

Complete requests for new or updated product labels and advise on compliant language per FHSA, CCCR, and industry norms.

Continuous Improvement:

Identify process improvement opportunities and enhanced communication across the Global Architectural business and the Product Stewardship team.

Seek greater alignment and consistency between store and retail customer operations.

Act as regulatory representative on IT projects requiring system upgrades.

Drive cross‑functional or regional improvement projects addressing gaps or increasing efficiency.

Lead more complex product stewardship projects and represent the workstream in less complex, cross‑functional projects.

Provide training and seminars on current trends in product stewardship.

Educate business partners on specific regulation aspects and recommend next steps.

Support the development of new or less experienced Product Stewardship team members.

Reports to the Sherwin‑Williams Global Headquarters. Location includes 1 Sherwin Way, Cleveland, OH; IL Chicago Office 8725 W Higgins Rd.; and MN Minneapolis Campus 1101 South 3rd Street, Minneapolis, MN.

Qualifications Position Requirements: Formal Education

Required:

Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.

Preferred:

Master’s Degree in the same or related disciplines.

Knowledge & Experience

Required:

5+ years in product stewardship or regulatory affairs, expertise in U.S. chemical product regulations, experience in paint and coatings, formulated products, chemicals, or materials industry.

Preferred:

8+ years in product stewardship or regulatory affairs, experience with global regulatory requirements, and 2+ years working with consumer product labeling regulations such as FHSA and CCCR.

Technical / Skill Requirements

Required:

Knowledge of basic chemistry, proficient presentation skills, proficiency in regulatory and labeling software, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.).

Preferred:

Knowledge of applied chemistry, architectural paint product stewardship expertise, experience interpreting regulations, and knowledge of FHSA and CCCR regulations.

Travel Requirements : 10%
