GRANT WRITER & COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER POSITION DESCRIPTION – Arts Council of Anne Arundel County
The Arts Council of Anne Arundel County (ACAAC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that supports our community’s artists and arts organizations through funding, leadership, and advocacy. ACAAC is seeking a Grant Writer and Communications Manager to join our small but mighty four-person office team. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success in grant writing and will possess excellent writing skills to shape our messaging and effectively communicate our organization’s impact. This position will also be the pointperson for general office administration. Experience working with small nonprofits, marketing, auction software, and CRM is highly desired.
PRIMARY DUTIES
Grants Writer
Seek and write grant proposals
Complete and manage post-award grant responsibilities, including tracking outcomes and submitting all required reports and documentation
Communications
Author the Annual Report narratives to highlight organizational impact
Produce scripts for annual signature events
Write and distribute weekly email newsletters
Draft and distribute targeted electronic communications
Compose copy for yearly fundraising campaigns
Support social media marketing
General Administrative
General office administration, such as ordering supplies, answering the phone, and artwork pickup/dropoff from exhibitions
Work closely with staff and the Gala Committee to assist with the annual Gala
Assist with Arts Month coordination
Assist with annual events including, but not limited to, the Annie Awards, Donor Appreciation Party and monthly Board of Directors meetings
Responsible for database entry and management
Oversee the generation of correspondence and donor acknowledgements
Assist the Marketing and Events Director with the Exhibits Program
Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Education: High school diploma required, college degree and/or work experience preferred, especially in the areas of grant writing and communications.
Experience and Knowledge: The ideal candidate will have experience in an arts organization or other small non-profit. Grant writing and communications experience are required. Proficiency in Canva, MS Office Suites, Adobe InDesign, Google Suite, Submittable, CRM, and auction software is highly desirable.
Other Requirements: To succeed in this position, the successful candidate must be organized, have attention to detail, be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and have the ability to work with professionals, artists, diverse partners, and stakeholders. Salary, Benefits, and Hours The position is full-time and in person at the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County’s office in Annapolis. Office hours are Monday – Thursday 10am to 5pm with remote work on Fridays. Occasionally, nights and weekends are required. The salary range for this position is $65,000 to $70,000, based on experience, and includes health and retirement benefits.
