Responsibilities
Prepare comprehensive drawing packages compliant with building codes and regulatory standards.
Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols to prevent electrical hazards.
Translate design requirements into precise configurations and perform calculations.
Coordinate implementation of design criteria using industrial tools.
Participate in planning meetings and adapt designs to evolving project needs.
Ensure efficient use of resources and compliance with contractual specifications.
Communicate progress effectively to leadership and stakeholders.
Collaborate with engineers and production staff to interpret design concepts.
Review relevant documentation and customer specifications to identify critical design attributes.
Perform detailed calculations to support product design and structural integrity.
Analyze vendor quotes and diagrams to create accurate structural layouts.
Revise designs and drawings based on change orders and customer requests.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in structural design, including buildings, stairs, cable trays, and sheet metal.
Experience with AutoCAD and Inventor in both 2D and 3D environments.
Associates in Civil Engineering or Drafting Technology.
2+ years of experience designing enclosures/buildings.
3+ years of experience with steel design/detailing using AutoCAD 2D and Inventor 3D.
Familiarity with ASTM, I-beam, oil and gas, NEC, NEMA, OSHA, and IEEE standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Knowledge of NEC, OSHA, and IEEE Standards.
Experience in manufacturing.
Work Environment The position requires working Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 5 PM, with flexibility on start and end times as long as 8 hours of work are completed each day. The role is 100% onsite and involves collaboration with a team of five other designers. You will manage 5-7 projects simultaneously, coordinating with teams, manufacturing, project managers, and sales.
Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $33.65/hr.
