About This Job The Leveraged Lending Underwriting Analyst provides analytical and transactional support to the underwriting team in evaluating leveraged loan opportunities for corporate and private equity‑backed borrowers. This entry‑level role is ideal for candidates with strong financial and analytical skills who want to build expertise in leveraged credit underwriting.
Responsibilities
Analyze borrower financial statements (historical & projected) to assess cash flow adequacy, leverage, liquidity, and performance trends
Build, update, and interpret financial models including sensitivity cases, leverage metrics, and pro‑forma adjustments
Conduct sponsor analysis: track record, fund strategy, prior performance, and support tendencies
Perform industry and competitive research to assess sector risks, cyclicality, and key value drivers
Assist Senior Underwriters in structuring transactions, evaluating collateral, and assessing deal terms
Review and summarize third‑party diligence: Quality of Earnings reports, field exams, legal due diligence, and valuation data
Partner with internal groups such as Credit, Portfolio Management, Treasury, Loan Operations, and Legal to underwrite and close loans
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (modeling, pivot tables, financial functions)
Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Internship experience in commercial banking, corporate finance, credit risk, investment banking, private equity, or related field is preferred
Familiarity with leveraged lending concepts (EBITDA adjustments, pro‑forma modeling, leverage metrics) is a plus
