Position Overview
As a Customer Service Representative at Big Lots, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional customer service. Your primary tasks will include greeting customers, assisting with merchandise selection, processing transactions, and addressing customer inquiries. Additional responsibilities may entail unloading deliveries, organizing stock, and keeping the store well-stocked.
Key Responsibilities:
Engage with customers in a friendly and approachable manner.
Assist in keeping the store clean and well-stocked to enhance the shopping experience.
Unload merchandise from trucks, organize it, and transport items from the stockroom to the sales floor.
Independently restock shelves and recover merchandise as needed.
Accurately handle customer transactions using the POS system.
Monitor customer activity to ensure a safe and secure shopping environment.
Perform additional tasks as assigned to support effective store operations.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Ability to follow instructions and understand retail operational documentation. Experience:
Previous experience in retail, hospitality, restaurant, grocery, or drug store settings preferred. Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and meet the demands of frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, twisting, and repetitive lifting with or without reasonable accommodation. Availability:
Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary. Skills:
Strong customer focus, ability to develop potential, results-oriented, strong organizational skills, effective communication, problem-solving abilities, job knowledge, and relationship management skills. Working Conditions: Work in a retail store environment with extended periods of standing. Stockroom environment subject to temperature fluctuations. Frequent lifting and maneuvering of merchandise. Exposure to dust and temperature extremes while unloading trailers. Work hours may vary, including evenings and weekends. Occasional use of ladders may be required.
