Position Summary Reporting to the Production Manager of Print & Copy Services, the Digital Print Technician’s primary duties include using digital print equipment to produce a variety of print products for customers, filling customers’ requests in an accurate and timely manner, and performing various finishing duties. The Digital Print Technician will also assist with monitoring and directing the work of student employees in the production area of the shop in coordination with the Production Manager, provide general information to customers, answer incoming phone calls when necessary, provide excellent customer service, and occasionally deliver printed materials to customers by foot, bus, and/or departmental vehicle.
Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies Ability to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Ability to perform tasks with attention to detail
Physical Demands Lift up to 25 lbs. Frequently walk, bend, squat, kneel, and lift. Travel to other buildings when necessary. Driving as needed to perform job duties.

Duties & Responsibilities Produce Print Orders According to the Parameters and Deadlines Set in Print Shop Pro by the Production Manager Clarify details of print orders, as needed, with the Production Manager and Administrative Services staff. Remain knowledgeable of all equipment in the print shop. Prepare jobs for printing using Fiery Command WorkStation and other software. Regularly monitor the quality of job output for correctness and image quality. Performing finishing services, as needed.

Produce Dissertation Orders According to the Parameters and Deadlines Set in Print Shop Pro Clarify order details of dissertation orders, as needed, with the Production Manager. Monitor quality of job output for correctness and image quality. Assess thesis and dissertation printing and binding supplies weekly. Provide Production Manager with supply order as needed

Monitor and Direct the Work of Student Staff Working in the Production Area Assign print and finishing duties based on the priorities for the day. Spot check assignments for quality and accuracy. Assist the Production Manager with the student staff’s use of the printing & finishing equipment. Answer process and procedure questions, as needed. Ensure the closing duties are safely and properly carried out nightly in accordance with the closing procedures. Report any consistent problems to the Production Manager

Provide Excellent Customer Service in Providing Information to Customers Answer the phone in the production area. Answer questions and direct calls, as necessary. Provide back-up assistance in the Production Manager’s absence, to include duties such as scheduling jobs for production and setting deadlines with administrative services staff.
