Overview Join our dynamic team at GovCIO as a Senior Technical Writer, where your expertise will bridge the gap between complex technical concepts and user-friendly documentation. We are looking for a meticulous individual to create, maintain, and enhance our internal and external document libraries. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our documentation is clear, accurate, and accessible to various audiences. Responsibilities Develop and maintain a comprehensive library of software documentation, including system design documents, user guides, internal processes, API references, release notes, and technical specifications.

Collaborate effectively with teams including software engineers, product managers, architects, and QA to gather and articulate technical requirements and implementation details.

Write clear, concise, and well-structured technical documents tailored to specific audiences such as developers, testers, stakeholders, and end-users.

Ensure all documentation maintains consistency, is version-controlled, and traceable throughout the software development lifecycle.

Implement best practices in technical writing by utilizing templates, style guides, and structured authoring techniques.

Utilize advanced features of Microsoft Word for formatting, editing, and finalizing documents, including styles, templates, and automated tables of contents.

Manage document repositories and uphold version control processes to keep documentation up-to-date.

Engage in peer reviews and incorporate feedback to enhance the quality and usability of the documentation.

Create visual aids like diagrams, tables, and flowcharts to clarify complex concepts when necessary.

Qualifications Required Skills and Experience: Must have a Secret clearance with the eligibility to acquire a Top-Secret clearance.

Bachelor's degree with 5-8 years of relevant experience.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Technical Writer in a software development environment.

Proven expertise in Microsoft Word, with advanced skills in formatting, styles, and document automation.

Strong proficiency in other Microsoft Office tools, such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio for diagrams.

Ability to understand and convey complex technical information in clear, precise, and audience-appropriate language.

Familiarity with software development lifecycle methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, and Scrum.

Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills and Experience: Experience supporting DCSA, DoD, or federal security agencies.

Familiarity with RPA tools and automation initiatives is a plus.

Knowledge of federal and DoD documentation and compliance standards.

Experience with documentation tools such as Confluence and SharePoint, and familiarity with diagramming and screenshot/markup tools.

Understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git) and content management practices.

Background in writing for regulated industries or enterprise software is preferred.

Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is desirable.
