Position Summary The Director of Retail is responsible for shaping and managing the merchandise strategy for Bluejack National’s retail offerings, creating an exceptional shopping experience that reflects our premium lifestyle. This role focuses on product selection, inventory planning, merchandising, and vendor partnerships, ensuring that every item across each amenity aligns with the expectations of our members and guests. While this role is based within the Golf Department and primarily supports our Pro Shop, The Closet, the Director of Retail will also oversee merchandise offerings at our full-service spa, The Sanctuary, and our children’s amenity, The Fort. It is essential that each of these outlets receives the same level of attention to detail and care as the Pro Shop.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Lead merchandise strategy for The Closet, and other retail outlets including The Sanctuary (spa) and The Fort (children’s amenity), ensuring a cohesive, high-end shopping experience.

Plan, source, and purchase merchandise across categories, balancing style, quality, member preferences, and profitability.

Monitor inventory levels, sales trends, and product performance, making data-driven decisions to optimize assortments.

Collaborate with vendors and brands to negotiate terms, manage orders, and coordinate deliveries.

Develop and implement visual merchandising standards that reflect Bluejack National’s premium lifestyle brand.

Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure timely stock replenishment to meet member demand.

Partner with internal teams, including Recreation and Wellness, to integrate merchandise strategy with overall community experiences and events.

Gather and analyze member and guest feedback to anticipate trends and refine product selection.

Ensure pricing, promotions, and displays align with the high standards of the brand.

Represent Bluejack National professionally in all vendor and member interactions.

Contribute to operational efficiency by maintaining organized records, supporting retail reporting, and assisting with special projects as needed.

Attend all relevant operational meetings.

Perform other job-related duties or special projects as assigned by management.

Qualifications

5+ years of experience in golf or pro shop retail, complemented by experience in premium, luxury, or lifestyle brands proven expertise in assortment planning, inventory management, and product selection.

Strong analytical skills and ability to use sales data to drive purchasing decisions.

Excellent negotiation and vendor management skills.

Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with inventory/POS systems.

Prior experience with Northstar CMS is a plus.

Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying schedules as required by golf operations.

Experience providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Merchandising, Fashion, or related field preferred.

Previous experience in a private club, golf operations or hospitality environment strongly preferred.

Approximate Schedule and Hours Weekdays, weekends, and Holidays, schedule flexible as business dictates.

Additional Compensation Soliciting gratuities from members or guests is strictly prohibited and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Gratuities include items such as cash, favors, gifts, tickets to events and other forms of non-financial compensation.

Licenses and Certifications Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and meet the driver safety policy requirements.

Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Our property sits on 767 acres and features many indoor and outdoor facilities that make up the work environment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be required to stand and move around for the majority of their shift. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is also regularly required to push, pull, bend, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Likely this role will require the ability to drive a golf cart to transport from one area of the property to another in a safe and secure manner.
