About the Role We are seeking a strategic, data-driven

Retention Marketing Manager

to lead and scale our client email and SMS programs. This is a senior leadership role responsible for driving revenue growth through lifecycle marketing, customer retention strategy, and advanced data insights.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in

Klaviyo (5+ years) , strong experience managing high-volume email and SMS programs, and a proven ability to translate customer data into meaningful, revenue-driving retention strategies.

This role requires both strategic oversight and hands‑on leadership, managing cross‑functional teams while owning performance, segmentation, reporting, and optimization across multiple client accounts.

Key Responsibilities

Own retention marketing strategy across email and SMS for multiple client accounts

Develop and execute lifecycle strategies including:

Welcome flows

Abandoned cart/browse flows

Post‑purchase flows

Drive measurable improvements in:

LTV

Repeat purchase rate

AOV

Retention rate

Create testing roadmaps (A/B and multivariate testing)

Establish forecasting models and revenue projections for retention channels

Email Marketing Management Requirements The candidate must demonstrate advanced experience in:

Campaign calendar planning aligned with brand promotions and product launches

Flow architecture development and optimization

Deliverability strategy (IP warming, domain health, list hygiene)

Template strategy and modular build systems

Advanced segmentation based on:

Behavioral triggers

Purchase history

Predictive analytics

Technical & Platform Expertise

5+ years managing Klaviyo at scale

Deep knowledge of:

Custom properties and events

API integrations

List growth tools

Third‑party integrations (Shopify, Recharge, Gorgias, etc.)

Data syncing, troubleshooting, and QA across platforms

GDPR, CAN‑SPAM, and compliance best practices

SMS Marketing Management Requirements

Strategic integration of SMS within lifecycle marketing

Campaign and flow setup within Klaviyo SMS

Compliance expertise (TCPA, opt‑in/opt‑out requirements)

Keyword growth strategies and list acquisition optimization

Coordinated cross‑channel messaging between email and SMS

Revenue attribution modeling for SMS performance

Smart send‑time optimization and frequency balancing

Audience suppression strategy to avoid fatigue

Data Management & Insights (Core Focus) This role requires strong analytical leadership and data fluency.

Oversee proper event tracking and data flow between platforms

Ensure accurate revenue attribution and reporting

Audit client accounts for data inconsistencies

Develop standardized data frameworks across accounts

Reporting & Performance Insights

Monitor KPIs including:

Conversion rate

List growth rate

Churn/unsubscribe rate

Deliverability metrics

Identify trends, anomalies, and revenue opportunities

Present monthly and quarterly insights to stakeholders

Translate raw data into strategic recommendations

Optimization & Forecasting

Conduct cohort analysis

Perform LTV modeling and segmentation refinement

Recommend budget allocation between acquisition and retention

Manage and mentor email/SMS marketing managers and specialists

Oversee quality control and campaign approvals

Lead client strategy calls and quarterly business reviews

Align retention strategy with paid media and creative teams

Develop SOPs and best practices for lifecycle marketing

Required Qualifications

5+ years experience in retention marketing (email & SMS)

5+ years hands‑on experience managing Klaviyo

Proven track record managing $1M+ in annual retention revenue

Strong background in eCommerce (DTC preferred)

Advanced understanding of lifecycle marketing frameworks

Deep analytical and data interpretation skills

Experience managing and mentoring marketing teams

Strong communication and presentation skills

Experience managing multiple client accounts simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in agency environments

Experience with CDPs or advanced data platforms

SQL knowledge or strong data querying experience

Familiarity with AI‑driven personalization tools

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Email & SMS attributed revenue

List health and deliverability metrics

Client retention and satisfaction scores

Flow revenue contribution %

Testing velocity and performance improvements
