Executive Director, Global Communications – Media Relations

The Estée Lauder Companies is seeking a highly strategic, globally minded leader to safeguard and elevate the Company’s corporate reputation through world‑class media engagement, thought leadership, and proactive enterprise storytelling. This senior role, positioned within Global Corporate Affairs, drives the Company’s earned media vision, provides strategic counsel to senior executives, and ensures consistent, high‑impact communication across global markets. Reporting to the Vice President, this executive will shape the Company’s external narrative, deepen influence across global business and industry media, and strengthen alignment across regions, functions, and brand portfolios. Key Responsibilities

70% – Global Media Strategy & Corporate Positioning:

Lead and evolve the global earned media strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise priorities, transformation initiatives, and corporate reputation objectives. Serve as a senior media spokesperson, representing corporate positions on complex business, economic, and industry topics. Cultivate and steward high‑level relationships with top‑tier global, financial, and trade media. Architect and secure high‑impact, strategic media opportunities for enterprise leaders and initiatives. Oversee development and continuous optimisation of the corporate editorial calendar. Collaborate closely with Investor Relations, Legal, HR, ESG, Global Brands, and Regional Communications. Provide executive‑level oversight for content development: press releases, executive messaging, media statements, Q&As, op‑eds, speeches, and storytelling. Serve as a senior advisor on issues and crisis communications, leading response workflows and ensuring readiness to mitigate reputational risk. 30% – Organizational Leadership, Operations & Performance Optimization:

Oversee global media monitoring, analytics, and reporting to translate insights into actionable strategies. Lead and refine processes for inbound media inquiries, leadership visibility requests, and speaking engagement assessments. Manage and enhance relationships with agencies, vendors, and global partners. Champion the integration of AI, digital intelligence, and data analytics tools. Contribute to organisational planning and capability‑building initiatives. Qualifications

15+ years experience in corporate affairs/communications, leading end‑to‑end external and internal strategies. Ability to manage rapidly changing priorities, staying calm under pressure. Extensive external communications experience with an active media network. Strategic thinker, self‑starter, innovative, creative, with proven ability to deliver extraordinary campaigns. Proactive mapping, mitigation, and crisis management experience. Adept at managing senior‑level relationships and influencing stakeholders. Excellent writing and storytelling skills, distilling complex content into clear, concise communications. Experience blending traditional internal communications with new media, including collaboration and online platforms. Strong presentation skills and tenacious execution mindset. Capability to handle highly confidential information with sensitivity and integrity. Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or Journalism preferred. Compensation & Benefits

Anticipated base salary range: $154,000.00 – $264,750.00, varying by experience, skills, education, and geographic location. Eligible for a competitive bonus program and the share incentive plan.
