Position Overview Under the direction of the Associate Director of Brand Marketing, the Copywriter is responsible for setting the overall content strategy, messaging tone, and creation of copy for print and digital marketing materials supporting our consumer retail fitness & wellness brands: Johnson Fitness & Wellness, Matrix Home Fitness, Vision Home Fitness, Johnson Commercial Fitness, and Massage Chair HQ. Specific duties include content development for websites, print collateral, video scripts, performance marketing, blogs, and brand guidelines. You will work closely with the marketing, sales and product teams to understand brand and product positioning, channel needs and deliver messaging strategies and content that elevates our marketing collateral and drive results. This is a non-supervisory position.

Responsibilities Creative process

Participate in internal brainstorming sessions, bringing energy and creativity

Develop tone, style, voice for all branded marketing materials

Takes an active role in working on concept development, refinement and editing of marketing collateral

Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and execute message testing opportunities

Ensure consistency in brand messaging and across all customer touchpoints

Website & E-Commerce Support

Develop messaging strategies that consider all touchpoints and effectively move consumers through the path to purchase

Produce copy for multiple branded e-commerce website properties

Write blog posts for multiple website properties that improve SEO and showcase expertise.

Continuous improvement of website content to support e-commerce performance goals, generative AI engine optimization and SEO

Digital Marketing

Produce copy for social media posts, stories, and campaigns to increase brand awareness and engagement

Work with Creative and Performance Marketing teams to build engaging e‑mail content strategies and campaigns

Lead message concepting and scripting for online video and linear TV campaign spots

Provide copy as requested to support other paid, earned and owned marketing outreach such as search marketing, affiliate content requests and other misc opportunities.

Have a solid understanding of customer journey mapping and AB testing to experiment with adapting core ideas for different formats and target audiences.

Additional Department Support

Develop product positioning, feature/benefit content and product training material to support product strategies

Elevate the brand and product presence at retail through effective messaging strategies for point‑of‑purchase materials and store graphics.

Support B2B sales materials, email and blog copy development for Johnson Commercial Fitness division.

Project Management

Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project timelines.

Coordinate with internal stakeholders including creative designers, website management team, media buyers, brand managers and store marketing leads to gather requirements and feedback.

Manage projects and streamline workflows using existing processes. Support new process opportunities.

Support copywriting and editing for press releases as needed.

Marginal Job Functions

Technical product writing and proofing

Assist marketing, sales and product teams with developing and editing PowerPoint presentation content

Other projects as needed

Requirements Education:

Bachelor's Degree required in English, Communications, or Journalism required

Experience:

Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a copywriter required

Agency experience is a plus

Content generation for use in various types of consumer‑facing print and digital marketing materials

Experience with fitness or wellness‑related content development is a major plus

Script writing and concept creation

Awareness of SEO / GEO writing best practices

Understanding of digital marketing channels and messaging best practices (Meta, Google, e‑mail, etc.)

Proficiency using generative AI tools as part of the creative workflow (ideation, iteration – not final output). Demonstrates strong editorial judgement to identify when AI content is OK to use and when we need to create original content.

Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders to inform/produce content and content strategies

Strong proofreading skills and grammar best practices

Other Requirements:

Mac or PC based: Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required

Intense attention to detail and editing

Up to 5% domestic travel
