Under the direction of the Recreation Services Supervisor, the Camp on the Go Director plans, coordinates, and oversees a mobile youth camp program serving underserved communities in the Town of Herndon outdoors in public parks. The Director leads and supervises camp staff on site, ensures safe and engaging daily operations, and supports program delivery at off-site locations and within in-house recreation programs as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Planning and implementing activities such as games, sports, crafts, and special recreation events;
Supervise and scheduling staff.
Provide on-site leadership and guidance.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Maintains equipment and supplies; and completing required reports and evaluations.
Other related duties may apply.
Requirements:
Enjoy working with children and working outdoors.
Demonstrated experience of leading and supervising staff is required.
Previous camp leadership experience is preferred.
CPR and First Aid certification and bilingual skills (Spanish preferred) are desirable.
A valid driver’s license, the ability to safely operate a Town-owned vehicle

Hours and Days may vary depending on program needs.
LOCATION:
Herndon Community Center, 814 Ferndale Avenue

$300 gross (before taxes) (PTF/Seasonal staff only) for staff hired for full day camps (Odyssey, Teen Discovery)
$175 gross (before taxes) (PTF/seasonal staff only) for staff hired for half day camps (Tennis, Sports, Nature)
Benefits: R e gistration discount to Herndon Odysseycamp
** for age-eligible children of temporary or PTF employees who are working directly to support the summer camp program(s). Including Camp counselors, Head Counselors, Directors and Assistant Directors, Camp Administrator for science, nature, dance, tennis, Odyssey, and Teen Discovery camps. Contracted camp staff not included.
Can apply for up to 2 children*** of the staff member, 25% discount off the resident rate; only during employee’s scheduled work weeks; enrollment maximums apply, pre-registration required. Includes foster, step, natural, custodial children or eligible sibling.
Discount of 25% off resident rate per session = $50 savings plus resident rate benefit.
Specialty camps are not included (tennis, contracted camps, sports, nature, etc)
includes foster, step, natural, custodial children (Can a younger sibling to a counselor earn discount? Yes)
