
job summary:
A Senior Mechanical Designer is needed for an engineering consulting company in the Boise, ID area. The Mechanical Designer leads the design and drafting of complex mechanical and process systems for a cutting-edge manufacturing facility, integrating fieldwork with CAD tools to ensure accurate, code-compliant, and installation-ready engineering deliverables.

responsibilities:
Conduct regular site visits to assess field conditions and ensure alignment with design specifications.
Collaborate with engineers, coordinators, and construction trades to ensure the design matches as-built conditions and project goals.
Draft and deliver clear, standards-compliant 2D/REVIT drawing packages.
Create and update chemical/mechanical layouts including piping, equipment, schedules, and P&IDs.
Design piping plans with pipe routing, valve/instrument placement, and equipment layouts.
Produce P&IDs and flow diagrams for HVAC, Hydronics, and Fire Protection systems.
Add isometric views and custom details to improve installation clarity and field execution.
Perform punch-list walks to verify final installation against design intent.
Participate in updates for design changes, cost reductions, and manufacturability improvements. Skills:
strong experience in semiconductor or high-tech facilities mechanical design.
Deep understanding of codes, standards, and design best practices.
Proven ability to lead design tasks and provide accurate work estimates.
Expertise in AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks. Experience: 10-15+ years of progressive CAD drafting/design experience in process systems.
