As a Sales & Account Management Intern at Delta Dental of Minnesota, you will gain an understanding of the dental insurance benefits industry and the distribution models for dental products and in-house services. The internships will provide exposure and comprehension of the business-to-business sales and client services functions, from initial prospect to close of sale, and experience of the implementation process and ongoing client services activities. The Sales and Account Management Intern will complete a rotation through our revenue teams (Individual & Family, Small Business, Large Business, Government), partnering internally to learn, assess, create/develop process efficiency or solutions or assets. In collaboration with key department resources and across the company, the Sales and Account Management Intern will help us partner with brokers, clients, members, and third parties to provide direct and positive impacts on the growth and strategy of our sales and account management departments. In addition, you will also have ample opportunities to interact with executive leadership. Gaining knowledge among the many areas of our organization is a valuable way to grow your business acumen and build lasting professional relationships. Through training, mentorship and special projects you will have countless opportunities to further develop your sales and account management skills. Internship Term: Summer 2026; 29.5 hours/week; On-site This position will be with Stratacor, an affiliate of Delta Dental of Minnesota. Account Management and Client Services Support: Assisting client-facing projects and deliverables Research benefit, claims, enrollment inquiries Analyze data, compile records, and prepare reports Assist in preparing analysis or financial exhibits Standard report generation Assist staff maintaining inventory and distribution of promotional items Sales and Sales Support: Shadow Sales team members to bolster understanding of sales process Experience and support the Request for Proposal (RFP) process Inbound/Outbound call support Perform market research and competitive analysis, present to leadership Execute projects to promote, grow, and generate sales Additional Responsibilities: Participate in various external client-facing events and presentations Work closely with account management and sales teams to develop outbound marketing campaigns and assets through various communication channels Assist with special initiatives to current clients, brokers, and prospects Support the maintenance of our SalesForce database per Sales/Account Management/Client Services direction; Update and ensure accurate information Represent the department throughout the organization in a positive manner Other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Self-starter who is comfortable working with minimal supervision Excellent phone presence and desire to learn Excellent analytical, problem identification, and resolution skills as these pertain to benefit plans Excellent written and oral communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to contribute healthy and positive dynamics to the work team Positive attitude and the ability to participate as part of a team to assure plan compliance and customer satisfaction Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Ability to multi-task and meet required deadlines Professional brand ambassador at all public events Team Player. Ability to see the big picture goals of the organization and contribute on day-to-day tasks Education and Experience: High school diploma & pursuing a Bachelor's degree; a minimum of a junior status for 2025 Experience work in sales or service/support position Dental/Insurance knowledge is a plus Work Environment/Physical Demands: Travel Requirements: None Weight Lifting Requirements: Up to 25 pounds Sedentary Work: Prolonged periods of sitting at a workstation while working on a computer Relationships: Reports To: Sales & Account Management Leadership Internal Relationships Include: Inside sales, operations, small business, large business sales and account management, marketing, finance, actuarial, underwriting and human resources External Relationships Include: Current and potential customers, agents/agencies, dental providers, and vendor partners Benefits & Compensation: Benefits for this position include earned sick and safe time. The salary for this position is $18.50 hourly. Salary offers will typically be made in the listed range. The Company takes into consideration a candidate's education, training, and experience, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including merit process and internal pay alignment when determining the salary for potential new team members.
